But Syriac is not an Eastern dialect of Aramaic ? ARE you sure ??? I guess that Syriac is nearer of Aramaic than Akkadian...

well i do talk syriac but its diffrent then the normal aramic.

and well something else yous aid we should call ourselves like our language why that cause i speak syriac/aramic it dont make me to an aramean.

or are the kurds persians cause they share similars to the language?
what they have incommen is that they are aryans.
well arameans,assyrians,arabs,hebrews are semetis.

And if you know Assyrian History than you wouldnt say that we should call ourselves aramean or syriac becuase of assyrians used to bring the arameans into Assyrian with their Langauge and thats why its so spread in our area.

and we call us Suraya on our mother lanuage
Syrians we have been called by the greece but its the sam as As(syrian)

my forfahters used to say to human

Anash today we say Nasha
Assuraya today we say Suraya
Akhuna was brother today Khuna etc.

so no i dont make my mother langue to my nationalaty!

I would like to know what it defines, according to your mind, your "Assyrian" nationality.

Language ? Religion ? Something else ?

Langauge is based on an aramic dialect with akkadian(assyrian dialect) influence.

Religion i am christ well there are also few muslim assyrians.

I could have Akkadian origians or areams etc. but this all is united under the term ASSYRIA and ASSYRIANS.

cause of the mexican talk spanish that still dont make them to spanish people also they have their kind of spanish language.

the same goes out to assyrians with the langauge.

so language and nationality dont have to do witih eachother.

thats it.

or is an Kurd an arab cause he is muslim???

A Kurd has in common language, culture, way of life, geographical area...
Arabs have especially language and culture in common. Many nations have several points that they considered as the basis of their "national identity", and it is not always the same than neighbours'. I just wondered on what characteristic Assyrians base their own identity. I don't say they have none.

Ok

we use to live in an Area which was know ans Assyrian or Northern Mesopotamia.

after Assyrians finshed with the culture of ashurisim we had more influence of the Christian Culture.

But old Assyrian Traditions are still in it.

My language like i said was change to syriac/aramic becuase the kings of the Assyrian Empire wanted to spreaed the language because their letters were easier and at that time aramic was well knowen in the whole middle east.

so i am an aramic/syriac speaking Assyrian.
