If it's cultural of religious, we can say that the more religious people are, the more chance there is that they will wear the scarf. I believe it's religious by the way cause islam is in my opinion more than just quran, its also hadith. Most western women who become muslim start wearing the scarf.

by the way it is not a "cultural" thing .. its a religious belief .. so if u think its cultural ur stupid

okie

well Heval and Diri , said the translation that I gave them is wrong...

- I got it from a Translated Quran ,I didnt translate it bymyself.
- that was only one verse that I reffered to, I guess there are many other verses that you can find .

but you are true , you can discuss and argue on the words...you can say this translation can be this and that .

both Hardliners and Liberals can reffer to many things to prove they are true.

:D by my idea the best choice is to let women free to choose whatever they want , it isnt men's job to tell women, what to wear . :?
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then YOU WIN !

Yes, it is difficult to translate Arabic to the English language...unfortunately, many do a bad job, and as a result, they produce misleading information.

I agree with you! :D I believe it should be the choice of the woman to do as she wishes, as everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.

i agree with diri, it is not in the Quran. but it is associated with religon, even if its not in the quran. the women who wear scarfs do it for a religous symbol. to show that their muslim, very few times is a women forced to wear a scarf by here family, well atleast not with kurds.
