Omid Kordestani

Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Business Development of Google !

As the individual responsible for Google's revenue generation efforts, Omid Kordestani is the tireless leader of an international sales effort that has brought Google to profitability in record time. Omid has more than a dozen years of high-technology consumer and enterprise experience, including key positions at Internet pioneer Netscape Communications. As vice president of Business Development and Sales, he grew Netscape's website revenue from an annual run-rate of $88 million to more than $200 million in 18 months.

Omid joined Netscape as director of OEM Sales, and during his four-year career at that company he was responsible for establishing major customer relationships with Citibank, AOL, Amazon, Intuit, Travelocity, Intel, @Home, eBay, and Excite. Prior to Netscape, he held positions in marketing, product management, and business development at The 3DO Company, Go Corporation, and Hewlett-Packard.

Omid received an MBA from Stanford University and a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from San Jose State University.

they see "Kurdistani" a persian !

His name is a geographical nisba. We could be sure that his family (or a part of his family) is originated from the province of Kordestan in Iran. That's all, of course he could be only issued from Kurds but not considering as a Kurd himself.

I have heared about his contacts with some kurds inside rojhelat.

and I am sure no non-Kurd, would liked to choose "kurdistani" as his family name. [family names were made about 60-70 years ago in iran]

and also if you look Google is the only famous site of the world whihc has Kurdish language .
they have Kurdish Version of their search engine, and most of their services have Kurdish language to chooose , and they are translating more sections to kurdish.

dont you think that Omid has had any effec there .... look at yahoo, aol , altavisa, BBC... none of them even see Kurdish as a language...

when I filled a yahoo form to choose my language, it didnt even have kurdish language.
and BBC site sees Kurdish , a DIALECT of persian .[not a language]

sure Omid Kurdistani is kurd but I dont think that he would like to shout his being kurd .... he is more a moderator / specialist than a kurd.

Very good viewpoint,Dyaoko.Maybe Mr. Kordestani is doing best as he can do.I start to believe that lots of ppl don't care and don't like Kurds even lots of Kurds hate their roots.This type of doing something for Kurds is one of the fine ways.

And no other etnic groups choose Kordestani surname expect Kurds.Kurds have Ozturk surname or Turkish names even lots of Kurds' name aren't Kurdish and pls don't exaggerate and don't discuss he is Kurdish.

I like art especially literature maybe my love and my faith with my race is coming from this root.I believe there is no art if there is no root.And there is no art if you haven't got a old historical past.But we have something because there is lots of kurdish artists who grew up in bad life conditions .And i believe our greatest weapon is art.I like Mehmet Uzun very much:

Mehmet Uzun was born in a village of Palu in 1956. He finished primary school in his own village (Ardurek/ Gökdere). He has begun to his secondary education in Elazig in 1968. He is humanist and he is the winner of the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize and lots of prize winner,pen clubs' member.He is Kurdish of course.And expecting he will win Nobel prize.

He is from Sine (Sanandaj - East Kurdistan). I know their family.

Professor Mozafar Partomah - working in Nasa
I was informed that Professor Mozafar Partomah Died , he was born in Sine, and he was high ranking scientist of NASA .

Partomah was an advisor to the first Kurdish governor of Islamic Republic of Iran in 1980 , who was "Ibrahim Yonesi" , later Younesy was kicked out from the government and Partomah fled into America.
(ibrahim yonesi is the first one who published book abuot kurdish history in iran and also the first person in iran who brought modern Story Writing to persian language)

unfortunately I was informed that he died in America , peace be upon him . I wish somebody can find some info about what he was doing in NASA.

hi all, i am new here and this is my first post

AZAD - Kurdish-German Rapper



Azad (real name i Azad Azadpour) was born 1974. His parents are from iranian occupied Kurdistan and he lives in Frankfurt / Germany.

Here you can see him together with Sivan Perwer. Azad said Sivan said he was planning to records a song together with Sivan for his new Album "Game Over"



On his first "Leben" (means life) he had a song together with Nassir Rezzazi called "Freiheit" (Freedom) in that he raps about Kurdistan. Maybe some of you have heard it.

In the very beginning he used to also rap parts in Kurdish, but since he is very popular in Germany i have not heard any kurdish rap of him.

welcome to this forum amanc , and thanks everybody for posting famous kurds they know .
by the way somebody said Kurds give more value to singers than scientists and thinkers...so does KRG ....
a kurdish astronomer emailed me and said he and his team have been awarded several times for their job by world wide orgnizations, but their telescope and tools was stolen during 91 revoultion by saddam soliders.
and they have been asking KRG to buy them new tools and telescope , KRG has said they have no money .... that guy told me , KRG have bought Naser Rizazi (singer) a house that costs 1000 times more than what they need in the university !!!

artists are not the only important peopel , we should know and love good scientists too .
