Islamicists protest against Mariwan Halabjayi in Suleimani PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 06 February 2006
Suleimani (TheKurdistani.com) by Azad Hewrami – Hundreds of people in the city of Suleimani headed by the Kurdistan Minister of Religious Issues, Dr. Marouf Gaznayi protested against a book issued by a Kurdish author in which he criticised the religion of Islam.

The protestors were demanding the arrest and sentence of Mariwan Halabjayi, the author of “Sex, Women and Sharia in the history of Islam”, a book which Islamic scholars in Kurdistan claim that it “attacks” the religion of Islam and Prophet Mohammad.

The protestors gathered in front of the Council of Ministers of the Suleimani-based Kurdistan Regional Government.

Dr. Gaznai told the protesotors that according to the Iraqi law, there is an article in which it states that “defamation” or “criticising” religion and religious figures is a crime and its punishment is severe. “We will give those who attack our prophets a sentence so that they can be a lesson for everyone”, the Kurdistani Minister told the angry Islamicist protestors in Suleimani.

The protestors also denounced the caricatures of Prophet Mohammad published in several European newspapers.

Shame on Mariwan Halabjayi Shame on him!

yeah Fascist denmakr

It's good to see protest agains fascist denmak in democratic Iran, democratic Egypt, democratic afghanistan and very partly democratic kurdistan. Thanks God, muslim democratic states are here.

Funny though, in the most democratic muslim state (well sorry but it is turkey...not very democratic but still more democratic than every other muslim state), almost no protests...

Ok give me a muslim state more democratic or "less undemocratic" than turkey.

it's not "turkish nationalist" to say turkey is more democratic than Iran or Saudi Arabia...if you don't find a country where the majority of the population is muslim and which is more democratic than Turkey, then I'm right.

And I'm still breton, not turk, geez I should publish an ADN test here.

So im lieing????? Iraq is free, democratic, look at the elections just recently, Many Turks hate to admit that Iraq is Democratic. I just talked to a turk on paltalk, and he says that Iraq is not democratic, and that everyone but the kurds want saddam back.

Your starting to remind me of him Tomjez :?

It's not rude, it is his political right. You have the right to be atheist in any country in the world and to attack religion. I never see an imam refusing to attack atheist, then they have to respect the same thing from their adversaries !

the political system is "democratic" ok; but you have a very limited conception of democracy, an american one actually

electoral system is free as well in turkey; which is not enough to make it a full democracy...

If the iraqi system is democratic, the society is not that's all...

and stop this bullshit comparison with turks, it's starting to be really offensing, do I assimilate you with Al Quaeda because youy think it is good to burn european states embassies???
