Big Protest in Turkey Against Prophet Cartoons
By VOA News
12 February 2006

Thousands of people rallied Sunday in Turkey in that country's largest protest against cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

At least 30,000 people demonstrated in the eastern city of Diyarbakir, shouting slogans against Denmark, where the cartoons were first published. In Istanbul, protesters threw eggs at the French consulate and called for revenge over the publication of the cartoons.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the protests across the Muslim world could spin out of control if governments refuse to urge their citizens to remain calm. She also again accused Iran and Syria of using the cartoons to incite anti-West violence - a charge Iran denied Sunday.

Violence or threats have led Denmark to withdraw its diplomats from Iran, Syria and Indonesia. But Indonesia's foreign minister, Hassan Wirajuda, said his country had security measures in place to protect the Danes.

In Pakistan, the United Nations has limited the movement of staff and supplies because of protests against the cartoons. But officials say the decision has had only a minor effect on relief efforts for survivors of last year's earthquake.

everyone has the right to express their views, and obviously 30, 000 is saying something, dont call for freedom of speech if your not going to allow everyone to have that freedom  kurds in turkey are very religious, especially in the diyarbakir region, so no wonder they are angry, most muslims were angry, but alhamdillah Kurds didnt resort to violence unlike other countries :D

This is rediculus...

You "good Muslims" are taking this to the part where a TURK claps your head and says "good boy, sit down boy"...

Or perhaps you didn't know there is a Turk here?

The Kurds were JUST as stupid when Atatürk tricked them... He said "We are all Muslims" and the "good Muslim Kurds" replied "Sure my brother - your place is on my head"...

Dumbass Kurds...

Moronic, I liked what they did, because I am muslim. Not Turk.

If I am kurd persian or muslim armenian, I will still clap them.

By the way, They are not turd. Infact you are becoming a disgusting fasist.

It is not your right to decide who is kurd who is not. You are not much different than apo, when he dont like someone he say that they are traitor.

When you dont like someone, you say they are turd(traitor)

Dont be a racist :-#
