I've read travellers descriptions of Erbil in the XVIII, already Kurdish...

Travelers' description from XIIth century mentionned it as a Kurdish city... There was a big Christian community here, until Mongols' destruction, but not a lot of Turkmens.

Does it matter? After all, today it is full of kurds. So, it is a kurdish city.

Iraqi Turkmen are spred in the area, they have no territorial concentration and are more urban than country settlers. So we could find them in all the Kurdish cities, but they are not in majority anywhere. I wonder if Michael Rubin spent a lot of times in Kurdistan. He shoud be to have a real appreciation of the ground.

Rubin is the number one Pro-Turkish man within the Jewish lobby groups in USA. Any thing he says should be taken with a grain of salt. Remember he is making comments more to suck up to Turkey then to make any legitimate case for anything. Recently he has been pissed off with Turkey regarding Hamas, but I still do not trust that guy. I think those comments are just to pretend that he is reacting against Turkey's actions so that other Jewish groups wouldnt question him too much.

Don't know what Kurds had done with his wife, but he seems a bit obsessed by Kurds and their friends ! I adore when, in his comment about the book, he reproaches to writers their great sympathy for Kurds, not objective said he. But is he objective himself ?
