Iranian Kurds , like Persians , have special customs for 13th day of the year .
they all go out to nature , and play , dance...make fire and...

and at the end they collect 13 stones and throw it behind their neck , so all the unfortunate of the new year go with these stones ...

I know that Iraqi Kurds dont celebare this , once Mezher Xaleqi (singer) called a Program in KurdSat and Angrily said "YES 13 BEDAR IS KURDISH... BUT YOU SOUTHERN KURDS HAVE FORGOTTEN IT...."

blah blah... what do you think ?

They had a program on KurdistanTV that talked about all the Kurdish holidays that have been forgotten in all the other parts of Kurdistan except the East, which included, Shewî Zistan (Sheva Zivistan), 13bidar, and 4shem sûrî and the Heft Sîn custom during Newroz.

Of course, they are all Kurdî! They are all I have ever known!!! I know most Kurds from Southern Kurdistan don't celebrate them anymore, but I do know some that do.

Must be because Eastern Kurdistan has been relatively quiete to blossom culturally - while the other parts have been more unstable and in conflicts constantly...

We celebrate it too - my family I mean... We go out this day - My father is very strict about it actually - saying it is "bûyûm" (brings bad luck) to sit inside on this day... :)

So - I AM GOING OUT NOW!!!

And now I am off to downtown... Get som fresh air... And perhaps have a cup of coffe at a nice cafè :P

In case you're wondering why a cafè - I have to tell you that my city is the Rain Capital of Norway! There is rain maybe 250 + days of the year!
