Okey - so we see it quite often. But do any of us stop for a moment and ask - what the hell is that guy doing?

I am talking about those people who in their blind "love" for the flag of Kurdistan, wave it while dancing - the Serchopî waving it like a MAD MAN - and occasionally making it touch the ground...

Basically - treating it with less respect than it deserves, in my personal oppinion...

Okey - so many flags are printed on underwear... And some are painted on floors, toilet seats and what not...

THIS is okey;

I'm not talking about these people... Showing respect and displaying with pride, the Kurdistan flag...

You know - I am talking about the mad man Serchopî who waves it carelessly...

You can often see them do just that on Kurdish TV - when on Seyrans or just a party - like the Newroz celebrations...

Wave wave wave... But don't drop it to the ground while madly waving around, thank you!

i totally agree with you, I have many times seen ignorant kurds who use kurdistan flag as Serchopy or treat it as stupidly ...

we need some cultural courses on kurdish TVs that how to behave National Flag, or National Sirud.

by the way thanks for the nice photos of kurdish ppl waving kurdistan flag, they are pretty nice .

The Kurdish cineast Hiner Saleem faced some attacks for, in his first movie "long live to the bride and liberation of Kurdistan" he covered his beloved' s body with a Kurdish flag. I don't thing that a flag should be sacred, as any symbols. In Turkey an offence toward their flag is severely repressed, and all chauvinist or nationalist states are like that. I think that we should play with symbols, not adore them.

I agree with Piling. Don't act like chauvinists.

You can better make sure that Kurdish parties use the Kurdish flag instead of stupid party flags like PKK. They almost only use kongra-gel, ocalan flags.. omfg.

I don't see where is the insult if in fact most ppl leading the dance use the 3 colours. And Kurdish dance is a national manifestation...

Chopî = the line of dance.

Serchopî = the person leading the line of dancers.

Piling - I don't think you have seen those times some drunk ass is waving the flag and occasionally dropping it because he is so damn drunk... And then there are those who are NOT drunk - who just don't have any culture... Just wave it carelessly...

Dyaoko isn't a chauvanist... And neither am I... Being educated and having enough sense and culture in your head to not disrespect the ONE symbol ALL Kurds agree on, is not chauvanism...

Chauvanism is when you diss culture/people... Not when you advocate respect for a national symbol... People who occasionally drop the flag to the ground out of carelessness - have no culture...

*When speaking of culture, I don't mean having Kurdish culture or not - I am speaking of being educated...

haha, spas bira. Sorry, I haven't commented because I never noticed it. Whenever I see the Serchopî waving it, they are always doing it gracefully :? But I think it's okay as long as people don't start making underwear and bikinis out of it like they do here with the U.S. flags.
