18-year old Nazanin Mahabad Fatehi (f) was sentenced to death after she reportedly admitted stabbing to death one of three men who attempted to rape her and her niece in a park in Karaj in March 2005. She was 17 at the time. During her trial, she reportedly told the court “I wanted to defend myself and my niece. I did not want to kill that boy. At the heat of the moment I did not know what to do because no one came to our help”.

Girl sentenced to death after defence versus rape attempt

The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

And I suppose that if she had not stabbed the guy, she would have been condemned to death for prostitution.

Karaj city is near tehran and it has a lot of kurds,
I heared its news while ago.. it was in the news, that her BF left them alone and runned away while these man tried to rape her and her niece.
by the way if she hadnt killed the men , she wouldnt be sentenced to death because she is Un-Married...if she was married, she would be killed (stoned) but in this case she would be forced to marry to the Raper Man
but overall it is so sad...discrimination against women ...
there was another woman who was rapped by a Mullah, she killed her , and she was hanged.
I wonder what would western countries do in such cases? do they let the girl free just because she defended herself ?

In France people have the right to defend themselve and to stab (even moral stabs) in a sudden agression, that you could not foresee and if they have no time or can not call police. Not only sexual agression, even if you are attacked violently by thieves for example
But you are not in "legal self-defence" when you attack your agressor after he fled, or before an attack (if you fear to be agressed but it is jnot sure).
Death punishment is abolished in all EU countries, it is one of the main condition of membership.

that's so sick, poor girl. even if she wasnt defending herself, even if, that was her BF who was killed by her only cuz she didnt want to have s~! with him, she shouldnt be sentenced to dead, thats way too sick
