Please share your oppinion, on which political group/ethnicity/religious group are friends and which ones are enemies of Kurdistan...

Be they neighbour or not - make your list and add a little note on why this political/ethnic/religious group is pro- or anti-Kurdistan...

Also I must say - by "friend" or "enemy" we are speaking in strictly political terms... No nation/political/religious group is realy a friend or enemy as a whole - they all just follow their own interests of course, quite naturally... But which ones have friendly and which ones have un-friendly nature towards Kurds and Kurdistan?

The only loyal friend that I can think of over the last twenty-five years has been Denmark. Not necessarily because they care about Kurds, but because they have firm in their opposition to the Turkish terror-state's policies. The number of enemies is too many to list, which includes Arabs, Turks, Persians, and Islamists. Our relationship with Israel and the US has been mired by their ties to Turkey, and America's ties to Saddam pre-Gulf War.

The problem is that often, in the international relations, humanism, the democracy and the human rights are sacrificed on the furnace bridge of the mercantile interests.
A famous sentence, but also very cynical, of De Gaulle(a famous General and french politician)summarizes this idea:
"France does not have friends, it has only interests..."

It is,unfortunately,a general rule in the relations between the States.But I recognize that there are sometimes exceptions.However,if the political relations are generally based on interests, real supports and friendly relations can develop in the civil society between different people.

But we have the montains

This is how I think:

Number one enemies which are unlikely to have a normal friendship with Kurds at least in close future. (maybe only after decades):

*turkeys.
*Sunni Arab nationalists, who see Kurds responsible for dividing Iraq intio three parts/stats.
*Everyday weakening state of Iran.
*Everyday weakening Baathist Syria.

The ones who try to act neutral:
*Jordan
*Georgia
*Kuwait

Countries in middle east who have or can have good relationships with Kurds:
*Israel,
*Armenia.



A possible future political entity/state in neighbourhood of the Kurds who will be in conflict with Sunni Arabs of Baghdad, and will not exactly try to follow Tehran:
*Shias of southersn Iraq. (dont be cheated with what currently Maliki or Jafari say as prime minister of IRAQ)





Pressure groups Kurds can use: Ethnic oppositions of Iran and turkeys:
*Khuzistani Arabs, PKK (in secret); PJAK and other Kurdish parties.

Unclear:
*South Azerbaijanis, (in past once they were friendly)

i think every one know's who i am going to blame.
MUSLIMS
No Islamic country will accept Kurdish land when we are working with the USA.
This is a dream come true for me.
We must not trust anyone and watch out for people within our own people, there has been to many backstabbers in our history.
People should work for up to 50 years for our motherland and not expect a penny.
We must build Kurdistan.
Enemy means one who feels hatred toward, intends injury of another.
We have to many and we must start to build bridges.

Tirigan - Armenia was very good to Êzidî Kurds, but not other Kurds... They even started splitting Êzidî Kurds from the other Kurds by falsly claiming they were a different nationality.

Anyway - I think Armenia has come a long way since those times... They aren't pursuing those ugly policies anymore...


I think Armenians, Greeks, Jews and Assyrians are people we need to win to our side. These are those least inclined to hate and detest us. Forget about the few examples of idiots here and there... Overall - we should try to befriend and ally ourselves with these peoples...

We should keep a neighbourly attitude towards any other nation: Arab, Turk or Persian... They are still our neighbours... As long as they respect our self-determination and identity, I see no point in creating needless enimocity...

We should win the hearts of religious and ethnic minorities...

Better to have a Turk as an enemy, than Armenian as a friend.

i think throughout our history our own people have been set on each other by the enemy.
kurds are learning from past mistakes.

I guess Kurds have a good relationships with Armenians, Israelis and Americans (currently).

Kurds have a lot of enemies

1. Turks
2. Muslim Arabs
3. Persians

Well some Persians are really nice to Kurds because we have a similar language and similar culture. I hope we could become friends with Persians. I have no idea about Assyrians I only knew one Assyrian guy, who was from Kirkuk. When I asked him if he were Kurdish he said that he is Arabic. Well at least he was very friendly to me, I don't know if all Assyrians are like him. By the way he was Catholic.

I can see many freinds and enemies to kurds.
I just want to add that in politics there are no friends. One can be friendly to a nation, but that is it. In politics my sisters and brothers we pursue interests, not friendships. Often times we hear politicians saying so and so are our friends....that is just a fabrication of saying so and so has something that can help us to an end. In politics we use and abuse people, states and nations alike to attain what it is that we are after. I suppose that Kurds can have friendly relations with respective nations....but it is just where our interests lay.
I may be wrong, and I may have minunderstood the whole discussion in a wrong manner...so In light of this...I would like to see if anyone can give me a clear and concise defintion to politics and power plays....within politics there are many definitions...it is not enough to say that politics is about who gets what, where and when....one must understand politics, live politics and breathe politics in order to really know how to differentiate between friends and enemies in political terms and unfortunately I am not that smart ...yet.

Jamo - I don't think it matters if the Arabs are Muslim or Christian... They are Arab first and foremost... Arabs in general, no matter which religion, will be pan-Arabist...

Only true Persians are our friends... Like Arashi (a member of this forum)... And also - there are others, in the thousands like Arashi - I know many from the internet who support self-determination for Kurdistan...

Those are true Persians...

Persians who demand that Kurds be part of their Persian Empire are not true Persians - those are either Shia Islamists or Azeri or Arabs...

Well...Diri Bira e bichuk..I know and I read your post...but you see...simply saying something to the effect of

It is a good start...and you have done better I would have, yet it needs a bit more ground and umph as we say in USA to have us going towards a good discussion. as it stands right now, it sounds more like a poll question than a start to a discussion.
The subject in itself is very broad and wide and this mini paragraph as an opening statement does not do it any justice. If we want serious answers...we must in turn have serious opening discussions. you have to forgive me...i learn by asking questions. But by friendly and unfriendly political terms...what are we wanting to know ? Business Relations? Alliances? Treaties of some sorts?
then there is the notion that everything is somehow politically tied together. Politics and Religion go hand in hand. Business furthermore enhances polical treaties between nations. So I am then terribly confused how to differentiate everything, when in reality everything is part of a whole and makes up the whole picture.
