Turkish soldiers detain residents of a whole village in Siirt

Soldiers raided a village in Siirt’s Kurtalan village and detained all the residents. On the other hand, more than 20 people from this village were detained in Batman city.

Turkish soldiers conducted a raid on the village of Çeltikbaşı (Bêlekê) in Kurtalan district of Siirt. During the so-called “counter-terrorism” operation, all the villagers have been taken into custody. Neither the exact number of detainees nor where they have been taken, is known yet.

On the other hand, Turkish forces also raided the homes of those who migrated from this village to Batman during the 90s. As result of the operation in the central Cudi neighborhood, more than 20 people from Çeltikbaşı village have been detained.

Curfew declared in Diyarbakir

Diyarbakir Governate said that residents of Yaylak village and Simetok, Derik and Licika Simo hamlets should remain indoors starting from today.

Local sources say Turkish army units are deployed in the area and a military operation is imminent.

Also, the curfews that were declared yesterday in Batman and Mardin are still in force.

Turkish army declares curfews during military operations in recent years. Most of the curfews are declared in remote regions without a good communication infrastructure so usually not all the residents are informed about the practice on time.
