Adds for Öcalan’s freedom
A full-page advertisement has been published in the British newspapers Daily Mirror, Brentwood Recorder and Wood and Wale under the headline "Join the campaign to free Abdullah Öcalan. Help bring about peace in Turkey and the Middle East”.
Actions and activities demanding freedom for Abdullah Öcalan continue all around the world.
Trade unions representing millions of workers have launched a “Freedom for Öcalan” campaign in the UK at the 22nd anniversary of his abduction from Kenya to Turkey in an international plot on 15 February 1999.
14 trade unions representing over six million workers, including Unite the Union, GMB, NEU, USDAW, FBU, continue their activities together with the British Kurdish People’s Council. Full-page advertisements promoted by the unions are published on newspapers to highlight the demand for the freedom of the Kurdish leader.
British Kurdish People’s Council co-presidents Elif Sarıcan and Ercan Akbal stated that the trade unions have given an advertisement to all the newspapers published throughout the country and did not leave anyone unreached.
The advertisement published by Daily Mirror, Brentwood Recorder and Wood and Wale calls for participation in the “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan” campaign. The advertisement has already appeared on 22 newspapers which will be followed by 66 other newspapers next week.
Ocalan is a sick old man and it is time he was released on compassionate grounds.
Ocalan has failing eyesight and heart problems, it is a wonder he has managed to survive 22 years of isolation, deprivation, torture and brainwashing.
Throughout all that time he has lived with the very real threat of execution, especially since a few years ago Erdogan's stated his intention of reinstating the death penalty.

Since the division of Kurdistan, against the wishes and without the consent of the Kurdish population, Kurds have attempted numerous uprisings and armed revolutions to gain their rights. JM
Sadly, all the leaders of those Kurdish liberation movements have been exiled, imprisoned or executed. Below we mention just a few examples:
Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani was executed by the Turks in the Mosel Prison in1914
Sheikh Mahmoud Hafid King of Kurdistan 1919-1924 was exiled to India.
Sheikh Saeed Piran in 1925 and Sayed Reza in 1939 were executed.
Apo Osman Sabri in 1936 was exiled to Madagascar and has been imprisoned 18 times.
Qazi Muhammad President of Kurdistan Republic in 1946 was executed.
General Mustafa Barzani with 500 fighters was exiled to Soviet Union 1947-1958.
Dr Abdulrahman Qasimlo was assassinated in Vienna 1989.
Dr Saeed Sharafkendi was assassinated in Berlin 1993.

The 15 February 1999 international
conspiracy in Abdullah Öcalan's words
Öcalan: "My intention was to find a democratic platform for the Kurdish question. Had I found support for this, it would also have been possible to push Turkey in this direction. However, Europe seemed not interested in a solution to the Kurdish problem."...
We can completely abandon separatism and violence in the present system if the Kurds are no longer excluded from a process in which they have participated together with the Turks in the course of history: the formation of a state and a nation to which both Kurds and Turks contributed alike. A republic, however, which is based on the denial of Kurdish demands for freedom, leads to separatism and violence. If the republic opens to the self-determination of its peoples within the boundaries of the republic, we might have a peaceful future together.
After some time of being imprisoned, demoralised, tortured, brainwashed, manipulated and kept in complete isolation did Ocalan really decide to become a
TRAITOR to all those
THOUSANDS of brave Kurds who died fighting for Kurdish Independence.
I do
NOT believe that and neither did his friends.
And anyway such a decision was
NOT his alone to make. Remember Ocalan was elected spokesperson for the PKK due to his charismatic personality, there are other members of the original group who are still out in the mountains who believe in and are fighting for Kurdish freedom.
There are
THOUSANDS of PKK Freedom Fighters who joined the PKK to fight for - and die for if need be - a
FREE KURDISTAN

Ten small local newspapers in UK publish“The Time has Come, Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan”
Ten newspapers in the UK, the Hucknall Dispatch, The Gazette, The Guardian, Advertiser, Rasen Mail, Sunderland Echo, Sleaford Standard, Visitor, The News Courier and The Bucks Herald, published the call “The Time has Come, Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan”
Sadly, these are small local papers, none of which have a large readership or any political leverage.
They may draw attention to the aggravated isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan and demanding his freedom, the call said: “Nobody has suffered as much as the Kurdish community.
The Kurdish community defeated ISIS on the battlefield with heroic efforts. It is building a new life and social structure in northern and eastern Syria. The Kurdish community has repeatedly wanted a peacefully negotiated solution. Despite all these efforts, the Turkish military and its mercenary allies attack the Kurds and commit violence and massacres.
The world just watches this. The ongoing peace process between the Turkish state and the Kurdish political leader Abdullah Öcalan between 2013-15 was voided by Erdoğan. It's time to stop this trend. It is time to return to a new peace process."
The declaration also emphasized that it is time to end the inhuman isolation and 20 years of imprisonment of Abdullah Öcalan, and added: "It is time for Abdullah Öcalan to play the main role in bringing peace.”
Stressing that all political leaders, civil society and the international public should take action in the “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan" campaign to open the doors that are closed to peace, the call stated that it is time to act before it is too late.”
The demands of the call are as follows:* Immediately end the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan.
* Release the captive Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. Put an end to the policies of pressure and intimidation against the opposition.
* All political prisoners in Turkish prisons should be released.
* End operations in Northern and Eastern Syria and Iraq. Support a new peace process with international support and initiatives.
Sadly, these demands have no chance of succeeding
There is no way Erdogan is going to release thousands of Kurdish prisoners
Were they too have only one important demand they may succeed:
Abdullah Öcalan should be freed
due to his age and his deteriorating health
Realistic and Achievable

Peace in Kurdistan release Öcalan
Peace in Kurdistan Campaign wrote to the UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Rt. Hon. Liz Truss MP, an open letter in support of the release of Abdullah Öcalan
The letter is as follows:
"Dear Foreign Secretary
Your office will be aware of the ongoing incarceration of Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the Kurdish people, by the authorities in Turkey. We call on the government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to make representations to the Turkish government calling for Mr Öcalan’s release.
Abdullah Ocalan was captured in a NATO-orchestrated operation in Nairobi, Kenya on 15 February 1999 and has been held by the Turkish authorities ever since then, often in solitary confinement, on Imrali Island in the Sea of Marmara. Abdullah Öcalan was deprived of his freedom without a fair trial and without a proper judicial process conducted by an independent court observing the standards of international law. In contravention of both national and international law and in violation of elementary human rights, Abdullah Öcalan has been denied access to legal representation and to see his family. Her Majesty’s government must express its clear objections to this woeful procedure.
For the Kurdish people, Abdullah Öcalan has a status and significance equivalent to that which Nelson Mandela had for his people in South Africa. His freedom is critical to ensuring a lasting peace in Turkey and the Middle East. Abdullah Öcalan’s inhuman treatment demonstrates the determination of the Turkish state, headed by President Erdogan, to prosecute a war of annihilation against every manifestation of the Kurdish people’s desire for representation and democracy.
Since his incarceration Öcalan has written several books dealing with the history and problems of the Middle East that have won academic acclaim. He has presented a case for a democratic solution to the Kurdish question in Turkey and the Middle East and a road map to reaching it. He has repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to seek that solution by taking practical steps. Since the early 1990s he has proposed negotiations with the Turkish authorities and sued for peace. Talks that Abdullah Öcalan held with the Turkish government between 2013 and 2015 encouraged a strong degree of optimism. A joint public declaration made at the Dolmabahce Palace, Istanbul on 28 February 2015 suggested that progress had been made and that a peaceful and democratic solution was within reach. However, President Erdogan’s intervention ended the negotiations, and the peace process was replaced by war and a futile attempt to impose a military solution. This war continues. If Turkey had a political leader who sought peace rather than to restore the reach and power of the Ottoman Empire through war, that leader would negotiate with Abdullah Öcalan, rather than demonise the Kurds and criminalise their representatives.
Peace in Kurdistan is sending its solidarity to the sit-in strike that will be taking place in Strasbourg commencing at 1.00pm local time on 2 October 2021 and will repeat the call ‘Now is the time for freedom.’ As a seat for the European Parliament and the host of the Council of Europe and the European Committee on the Prevention of Torture, it is fitting that Abdullah Öcalan’s cause is brought to Strasbourg. His name and the values that he proclaims will resonate through those illustrious halls: The Time for Freedom is Now – Freedom for Öcalan Shall Prevail. At this time when Kurdish people are showing their solidarity with their chosen political leader, we call on the British government to raise the treatment of Abdullah Ocalan with Turkey and use its influence to steer the Turkish authorities on the path towards peace, which will benefit us all."
