He just forgets one thing. Is the PUK/KDP for a indepent Kurdistan? No.. Should the peshmerga's be maintained.. in a democratic society IF they oppose the creation of a independent Kurdistan.

I think that there is a tendency with PUK and KDP that is in favour of moving towards independence... In particular within KDP... Hwever, there are also corrupt politicans who don't want independence because they want to blame the central governmnt for all Kurdistan's problems.... i.e Fizal Mirani or Moshirvan Mustafa.... However, the Radical tendencies are comin g to the for fromt in the Party organisations... particularly in Bahdinan region....
It is just at the monment Kurds cannot look like they are the first to break up with Iraq... Rather they are waiting for the Arabs to hang themselves on their own... Once the Arabs become too unreasonable then the Kurds can declare independence and Turkey cannot say a thing....
What is more, the Kurdish Parties in Iraq are pushing to make the Peshmerga the LEGAL defense force of Kurdistan... Much like the various groups in Bonsia have their own armies..... This is a very important point in international law....

By the way... In KDP Peshmerga there are 2,000 ex PKK fighters.... already
