PostAuthor: Vladimir » Sun Nov 06, 2005 5:53 pm

Is it "trîlîlî ", zilgit, or Jiqa Jiq
.. what is it?

Diri you know.. it's that "women's voice exclamation, a shout trilled on the tongue"..
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

I think I'll stick with Heval on this one... I too would only know it as "TILÎLÎ"... And then ending would of course vary - but that is another matter...

Brother - that is a relative thing---> Have you been to all corners of Kurdistan? I bet there are places that men do that too... As matter of fact I have "seen" it on TV...

Men in some areas do however commonly, shout other things... Like Ayayayayaya in a very high tone... Or iiiiihaaaaaaa... -I think they do that alot in the Southern parts of Kurdistan...

you have leyleyleyleyley also!

But from my experience men do tililililili ! personally I can only achieve a rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiii which from kurdish point of view is seen as "not that bad"

If I may add something, arabs and kabyles (berbers) in Northern Africa do that as well. anyway in Morocco and Algeria
