No need for Iraq
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Iraq flag has been changed 4 times in the history...whenever a new government came to power in its history, they changed the flag .

but now that kurds particpate in the govenment for the fist time
Arabs are saying like
"oh are you going to change our holly flag? are you going to change our flag with israeel?"

they dont ask them self their holly flag was just Saddam's painting .
and it has been Totally changed 4 times in the hisotry.

they must change it if they want us to be a part of iraq
well ... I will be more happy if they dont change it, because I will have "one more reason " to say I want independence. he he
so keep on saving your stupid saddam flag we we will rais our own flag higher
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then YOU WIN !

It is in the iraqi constitution that they have to change the flag, so it will come i promis, and i here they might just change it to the Abdil Karim Kassem flag that roller rebar showed us, i really like that flag, and i could see myself saluting it. inshallah they do.

don't really care but I'm for change. I think the boring pan-arabist colors and the generic stars on the current flag need to go. Would like to see a UNIQUE flag that represents the diversity of Iraq. I would however salute any flag that represents my country even if its the current one.

There are a few Germans saluting the Nazi flag and there are lots more Arabs saluting the Iraqi Baath flag... They should just refrain from making a new one - because we Kurds won't be getting too comfortable in Iraq - we are going to be independent soon and we don't want a stupid flag to hinder our aperations... so let them keep their Baath flag - Just don't expect Kurds to salute it...

The Iraqi flag must be how it is. Nazi like.. with more Arab symbols maybe, so you can see Iraq and Kurdistan is different.

If you are not an Iraqi Kurd then it's not of your business what flag we [Iraqi citizens]decide to have.

What if the current one only represents the baathist regime?
I dont see germans saluting the Nazi flag?

I don't care the 3 star flag always represented Iraq to me. The allahu akbar inscripted one does not but for obvious reasons they did not remove it just changed the script. Anyways I am more for the flag changing and I think thats whats been said in the constiution

Hey - my friend - don't be so naiv - do you think Kurds would stay in Iraq if they were given the choice??? They proved you wrong twice... They wanna get OUT of Iraq...

I am Eastern Kurd - but I am sure my brothers and sisters in South Kurdistan agree that our final destination will be Union of Greater Kurdistan - independence my dear friend ;)

Iraq is based on fantasies, Kurdistan on etnicity and logics.
