I will happily join Peshmerga when the call of duty comes, I also hope all my fellow Kurds here are aswell.

I read that the ethnic composition of the Peshmerga is about 15% Turkmen, 7% Arab, 10% Christian and the rest Kurdish.

Indeed, the Arabs mostly joined during Saddams era and still are in Kurdistan. The Turkmen are from Hawler and Kirkuk area, and contrary to what people think not all Turkmen are anti-Kurdish. And even with the Kurdish population a big chunk of them are not Muslim, then it's broken into shia and sunni Muslims. The Peshmerga is very diverse.

I personally wish however it was solely Kurdish, but I acknowledge the fact Kurdistan in itself is diverse.

We can't discriminate against other nationalists and since the Peshmerga is voluntary and not compulsory one can assume that they are also patriotic and care for Kurdistan.

Well in that sense my views on nationalism are very different compared to the other members. I believe in ethnic nationalism, to the extent of a tribalist form. Atleast I don't shove my views on other people's throats, unlike some people.

that is what differs us from arabs , we kurds do not care who is feyli who is yazidi or who is a sunni , a peshmerga is a peshmerga regardless , having said that i know of a few feyli peshemrgas that are now high official in PUK.

Since it says '20-25 Christian, 15% Kakay - 5% yezidi'.

But the number of Christians is quite high. I know there are lots of Christians in Kurdistan, but isn't 20% Christian peshmerga out of 250,000 peshmerga not a high estimate? :p

i dont know where heval ideas got this info from , but kakay are the tribes that live in germyan and kirkuk area , they are both kurdish and turkmen and have their own religion "kakayi" . i personally know some kakayis as my family is from kirkuk and we know quite a few of them .

and saddam took most of their lands specially in laylan district in kirkuk which is now taken back from the illegal arab settlers and the arabs have left laylan since 2003 but the lands where in their names till few months ago as the " baathie north revolution committee " was canceled by baghdad via article 140 .
