01/05/2012 ERBIL, May 1 (AKnews) - The issues between the Baghdad and Erbil governments over the Peshmarga (Kurdistan borders guards) requires political and legal solutions and the media should not intensify the tension over these issues, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Peshmarga.
Jabbar Yawar, jabar yawar"We demand the media not to blow up any statement as a topic so that it does not end up against the Kurds," said Jabbar Yawar.
The official said recently there were reports that alleged by virtue of article 78 of the Iraqi constitution that the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki demanded the Kurdistan Peshmarga forces be merged with and controlled by the Iraqi Army Commander.
"But this isn't true and we haven't received any official statements about this," Yawar said.
At the same time, Yawar said, one cannot generalize the statements by some members of the PM's State of Law Coalition as the general stance of the party or of a particular MP.
"We regard the constitution of the federal Iraq as the basis and criterion for settling our issues," said Yawar.
He added that considering the current state of affairs in Iraq, one should understand "we are undergoing a sensitive stage and all the Kurdish media should deal with the events, especially issues of Peshmarga, with responsibility.
"As now the political meetings are undergoing, and provoking some topics will not be in the interest of the Kurds."
