Yes its an integrated complex consisting of sensors to detect threats as well as flares, chaff, decoys and electronic jamming.

btw. news came out today that Iraq is indeed receiving a few "Avenger" systems from the US (humvee with stingers/12.7mm). rather obsolete system if you ask me.

In case you missed my last question..

Have you heard of any news suggesting the Iraqi army will be allowed to train in Kurdistan ?

I was told by a friend that, baghdad and the KRG will sign a deal to allow Iraqi military to train in our mountains.

I'm not sure, but I think the mounted stinger is single and manned.

I am not sure about the number of avengers. but honestly they are of little use. They may use a newer version of the stinger. but a stinger is a stinger. could be useful against Iran I suppose.

Some speculate that these are mounted on the 192 M548s that Iraq received from the US as EDA. But nothing is certain. I'd have bought TOR-M2s / Pantsir S-1... but clearly there's politics involved in the deal.

As for Iraqi army training in Kurdistan, The Academies in Dohuk and Sulaymania are part of the Iraqi Army and train both Kurdish and Arab cadets.

Regarding equipment allocations, The Kurdistan Regional Border Guards are all equipped by the Iraqi defence/Interior ministry and trained to the same standards by a mix of Iraqi and US trainers. (e.g. you see the international trucks, humvees, MRAPs etc... which are all allocated from the central defence store in Taji).

What about army officer training? I've heard the quality of training for officers isn't really that good in comparison to the surrounding countries and Europe.

The NATO training Academy was very good. The Iraqi army curriculum has been updated after 2003, so there's quite a bit of improvement over the pre-2003 days.
