The Islamic State of Iraq has threatened the people and police of Kirkuk, while planted bomb blast killed a member of the police in the south of Kirkuk.
The security force chief of the Wassit neighborhood told Kirkuk Now “In the late evening of Sunday, a number of individuals spread a number of CDs belonging to the so-called The Islamic State of Iraq.”
He further stated that the CDs, which contains a video recording of numerous violent acts and threatens the Kurds and police members of Kirkuk, were also distributed in some other neighborhoods apart from Wassit.
According to the same source, the CDs were distributed by three men but they were not arrested as they escaped to an as yet unknown location.
The Islamic State of Iraq is one of the insurgent groups of Iraq and they perform their activities specifically in the Sunni provinces and according to journalists, the group is part of al-Qaeda in Iraq.
On the morning of Monday, February 2, a planted bomb exploded by a convoy of the police forces. According to Lieutenant Yawz Ibrahim, one of the police members was killed and another two were left injured.
While in another attack, a planted bomb exploded by a convoy of the Iraqi army in the Riyaz sub-district, with the blast causing heavy damages to the vehicles but with no casualties being reported.
