Kirkuk: 20% of police are drug abusers

Police members are among drug abusers. 20% of police members are drug abusers, according to the chief of the Kirkuk Drug Enforcement Department.

Colonel Nawzad, the chief of the department told Kirkuk Now “During the first six months of 2013, 46 dossiers have been opened for drug abuse cases and 63 persons were arrested charged with illegal drug abuse.”

“A large amount of addictive medications and illegal drugs were confiscated,” Colonel Nawzad stated.

“According to our statistics, 20% of the drug abusers are members of the Kirkuk Police and the drug abuse is increasing in Kirkuk province,” he added.
