ERBIL-Hewlêr, Kurdistan region 'Iraq',— Kurdistan parliament session saw Sunday, June 30th, a fistfight between a number of members of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan PUK and their counterparts from the opposition Gorran (Change) movement, Iraq National News Agency reported.

The main Kurdish opposition party, the Gorran movement objected on two clauses on a draft law submitted by Kurdistan Regional Government KRG, stipulating the extension of the period of Kurdistan parliament speaker and the presidency.

Massoud Barzani was elected for a four-year term which expires in July. According to the law he must then stand down because he has served two terms and a fresh presidential election should be held. However, today’s motion reveals Barzani’s desire to stay in power and postpone the election.

As the Speaker tried to read the relevant paper there was uproar, with opposition MPs heckling and shouting “Fraud!” and “Illegal!”. There were fights between MPs from the ruling KDP and PUK and those from the opposition parties.

The police arrived and they arrested one opposition MP, Abdullah Mullah Nuri. He is a popular Gorran representative from Garmyan with a reputation for putting himself on the side of the poor.

Opposition MPs say the police intervention was completely one-sided in support of the ruling parties.

Gorran MP Kuêstan Mohammed told Sbeiy: “We are not keeping quiet and there will be a more tough response to this action”. To the pro-KDP Rudaw she added: “Our response will not be the normal”.

The objection resulted in talk quarrel that ended by throwing the Kurdistan parliament speaker with water bottles by one of the Change Movement members, Aswat al-Iraq reported.

Kurdish satellite TV NRT cited that Sunday's session, which was devoted to discuss the elections in the Kurdistan region, has seen verbal altercations then a fistfights between the number of members of the PUK and the members of the opposition Gorran movement.

Kurdish sources said it began with words argument between, Abdullah Mullah Nuri from Gorran movement and members from the PUK because of the support of Talabani's party PUK to grant a third term for the current President of Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani, which faced rejection from Change movement, later developed to fist fight.

The TV noted that the presidency of the parliament closed the door of the parliament to prevent the members of the Gorran movement to enter the Hall.

If I would be there, this Gorran Terrorists would not survive that. Gorran members act like animals, In every TV show and parliamentary session they scream like uncultured monkeys.

Gorran have no plan what democracy is, they have a dictatorial instinct, even now as a minority group they want to rule and decide everything. If the ruling parties decide something what they dont agree with, they make trouble like animals.

Gorrans democracy is violence, they are already as a minority so radical, who knows what they would do as a majority.

The Kurds must wake up especially those in Silemani, they must give such radical haters a punch in the face in the next elections.

And I have a question, did the parliament now decided that Barzani can run again for the presidential elections?

I used to think that it would be a good thing if the Gorran movement was involved in parliament - I have been proved WRONG - I sincerely hope that the Gorran trouble makers are banned from attending any more parliamentary decisions - and that they forfeit their seats as a result of their disgusting behaviour.

These people are not mature enough to take any part in running Kurdistan - their behaviour has SHAMED and EMBARRASSED the entire country in the eyes of the world - it has probably lost Kurdistan trade because no country would want to work with those idiots X(

The Gorran movement have just proved that for safety and security of Kurdistan Massoud Barzani has to remain in power :ymapplause:

Only uneducated and uncivilized people would want to see a fight in the parliament of its homeland just to have fun.

Beside your love for fights, do you know what this fight means politically? Such events could destabilize Kurdistan and such radical hateful oppositions could harm Kurdistan.
