Now I've seen it all : An openly GAY Imam

Discussions about religion.

Encouraged?? I never see it is encouraged.

And it's true you see more homosexuals now, because it was forbidden then. Off course you had them, but they were secretly gay.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Uuuuuummm???

Roller... How can you know people aregay unless they tell you so???
So you have no hard proof that there are more gay people in the West than in the East...

As a matter of fact - scientists believe that every 30 person of a 100 are gay... And they DO believe it is something caused through childhood - some people are supposed to be more prone to the matter... While some people less prone to gayness go through their lives as straight...

I don't think people choose to be gay - why would people LIKE to complicate things??? That IS what they do when they go against the norms of society...

Yes - there are more "open" gay people in the West - THAT is because it is more accepted...

The surrounding atmosphere of where a child lives is infact a catalyst for those types of hormones.

Let's just say it like this - Some people are 50% prone others are only 10%... Now if that person with 50% probablity moves to the West - he MIGHT start seeing himself as more gay than straight... but back in the East he was not exposed to such elements -that could lead him to "switch" sides and become gay... :)

But then the 10% person - even when he moves to Western country he is not affected by the elements... and he stays the same in matters of emotion...

No one needs to TELL me that he/she/it is gay , we all know that Homosexuality is widespread in the West , that is not the point of the discussion

My point exactly - There is a 30 % gayness in both the muslim world and the christian world... So you accept this? (only reason why there are less open gay people in the muslim world is because it is not accepted by society... Well except for Turkey where gayness is a pleasure... for both straight and gay men :P )

how can people be born gay
when they dont even know wat homosexuality is! if u arent exposed to homosexuality then u wont be gay
its just like kids born into an abusive household...chances are they will take on the same absuives characteristics....same thing goes for durgs, alchol, smoking..etc etc

and yes poeple do wake up and say im gay bc its a fashionable thing to be now...

being gay does not complicate anyones life.....they are accpeted espcially here in us :?

Sorgul - Do you have any friends that are gay?

What I meant was that muslim boys and girls... would make their lives more complicated if they "chose" to be gay... So why would anybody "choose" to be gay then? It certainly isn't fashionable in muslim circles... In fact they hare fiercly hated - and the same goes for Jewish and Christian circles... So how do you explain this then sister? :D

When saying muslim circles - because Islam is a strict religion in many ways!
When saying Jews and Christians I was obviously reffering to the more religious and bordering on the "fanatic" line people... I wasn't talking about those kids that call themselves Christan or Jew but who on the other side make fun of Jesus or Moses and who generally are less riligious than the minority of Christians and Jews... Now - do you agree? I mean - It i equally forbidden in Judaism and Christianity as it is in Islam... Naturaly - as I myself see it as something wrong...

I see - No that was not what I was getting at... I was only aksing because I wonder wether or not you had talked to your gay friends about what they feel regarding the matter... I mean - you must have talked with them about them being gay- right??

That makes me wonder... So they aren't GOOD friends of yours I guess...

But anyway... They probably haven't chosen to be gay... I just can believe that...
