a famous muslim wrote a poem for him

Khalid al-Baghdadi

May Allah Sanctify His Soul

"He praises me, and I praise Him;
He serves me, and I serve Him;
By my existence I affirm Him;
And by my determination I deny Him;
It is He who knows me, when I deny Him;
Then I discover Him and contemplate Him."

Ibn cArabi, Fusus al-Hikam.

No i had never heard of him until you said, so i typed his name in google :D i think hes known as Saidi Keri to most Kurds..thanks for mentioning him, most of the sites are by Turks claiming he was a Turk :? but clearly he is a Kurd, cos as i found out he was born in Nurs, a Kurdish city in the Kurdistani area of Turkey, which is why he got his name "nursi". Some kurds need to re-write history to stop nationalistic turks claiming all our great kurds were turks :roll:

Theres also Ibn Athir, another Kurdish islamic thinker, from the town of cizre, in northern kurdistan, have u heard of him? heres the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibn_Athir :D

Said Nursi was Islamic, but he didn't help the Kurds much.

Saïd Nursi was an "Ottoman sufi", not a nationalist, neither Kemalist nor pro-Kurdish. He was agaisnt Kemalism and secularism and refused to be involved in the regime. He did not help "Kurdistanism" but did not fight it. His way was different, specfically religious.

I know. I wrote a few articles about him. You also have a Nursi movement now. But it's sometimes damaged by Turkish state Islamism.
