Dyaoko -
That might be VERY right - because in Arabia people didn't like baby girls - they always abondoned them in the desert or killed them... But when Prophet Mohammed came he abolished MANY old Arab traditions and things like female circumcision - correction if you know better, killing of baby girls, abolishing slavery and selling of their girls as wives...
But for Kurdistan Islam meant less rights for women...

i also heared , islam has given more rights to women than any other relligion..
someobdy who was expertise in quran told me ,Jew Men Should shave their women's hair so they can never be seen...and their hejab is more hard than islam's..
he said today jews and christians dont do what the Torah and bilbe says,,thats why ppl think Torah/Bible have given more right to women than islam...

Mohammad (pbuh) a feminist? Interesting idea...
I don't think that he was a feminist in the idea that he was actively changing women's rights, but I do think that he was profoundly impacted by some very strong women in his life.
I don't feel that we can accurately say that Islam has made things better or worse for women because the situation for women today and in the past is so vastly different by region.
Instead of calling Mohammad (pbuh) a feminist, why don't we just say that he was a man who made extraordinary attempts at trying to understand (and protect) the female sex.

femenist is somebody who tries to give more rights for women...
infact mohammad in Sudi Arabia in 1400 years ago, was a femenist for them... but for kurds it was a backward....and I Agree with you ..
when islam came to kurdistan...the condtion of women become worse..
dont misundrestand me, i am not supporting his idoelogy...

Oh, I don't care if you support his ideology at all. I just have a hard time calling him a "feminist" because when I think of the term I think of hours and hours in political science theory class discussing "who is the better feminist?". I don't think that women who say that they are feminist are doing much good for women on the whole...unfortuately. And I realize that there will be a lot of people out there who will completely disagree with that comment...but there it is anyway. A common goal of the majority of feminist groups is for women to gain equality with other groups...if you want equality, why do so many feminist groups attempt to "bring down" or condemn other groups. If you bring everyone down to your level (where you feel that you are currently being oppressed) have you really acheived anything better for yourself?
As for Mohammad, I just don't want to trap him into my own philsophical cycle of thinking on the feminist issue.

I agree h I always thinked like you , and I never think mohammad is femeinist,,,i jsut said it is an idea...well it can be used for making good connection with muslem kurds...there are many kurds who consider themself muslem...
we can use this ...we can say hey look mohammad tried to gain equality for women in his time....you must do the same !

I guess it is better to be a bit higher than a slave...in 7th century...but c'mon didn't all the prophets show us that humans are supposed to evolve? Allah/God/Y'vey? would not have to keep coming back to revise things if humans were not supposed to evolve. I don't care what the "humans" say...because you know NOTHING can go through a human's brain and come out as Allah...nothing...we are imperfect creatures and no matter how Allah tried he could never get it right by using and imperfect intermediary...we know what he meant...it's in the spirit of life, not in words. We should evolve and grow...because in this way we are making progress towards a better...more equal....more just world that is worth redemption.

Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w) is the last prophet of God, he sent God's words for the final time in the middle east. Women And Men are both equal, and everyone is equal under One God. Dont be fooled by the fake islamic republics they have today. Women in kurdistan have the right to wear a hijab or not, some do some dont. Its up to them how they want to express their faith.

yea mosul i belive , mohammad's words are so much better than other prophets...about women.
in quran it says "we made male and female from dust and we blow our own soul [the god's soul] in both of them...there is no diffrence between them"
but in bible says
god first made male then made Female from the a pice of male's bone...to give servie to male...
islam has given more right to females than christianity...
you can see that in Middle ages of europe ..christianity was so horrible...
they even killed scienetists...
infact whenever extremists reilligous ppl take power they make bad reputation for that relligion..
today extremist muslems are making bad image of islam..

Mohammad was no where near a feminist. The traditional argument is that he prevented the killing of infant girls etc. However, he employed his status to sexually exploit women. This is inherently anything but feminist.
