Hi :)

I am in need of some advice as this is a new one for me. I have recently, very recently met a Kurdish man who on first meeting seemed lovely and I am sure he is deep down however within a week he has suggested that within 4 to 5 months he will apply for a loan for me and him to set up a business working together. I have not mentioned anything of the sort to him yet he seems to think that this is a great idea. I fully understand that Kurdish men are true to their loved ones but we have just met. Now he has lived in the UK for 5 years and has a visa, however is he just jumping the gun or is this Kurdish Culture to fall for somebody so quick? as I am a western woman, single parent with two children and I work full time and strong minded and last thing I need is somebody forcing themselves and their ideas on me. I ask because maybe just maybe he does not understand that not all western women are up for full on fun, yet not all will adapt to mens way of thinking within a week. Can somebody enlighten me please to Kurdish mens way of thinking:)

Dear stela101,

People of the same cultural background are not the same exactly. Nevertheless, generally in Kurdish culture, a man considered a breadwinner and a woman takes care of family responsibility. Because of this, a man can make decisions when it relates to some thing ouside the family, like business affairs. In this case, it is better for you to talk to him franckly about your thinking to his idea etiquetly and ensure he takes notice of it. Ensure you mean business, this will save a lot of misunderstanding in future.

stella he is using you , NO man of eastern origin that I know of goes for a women with 2 children , which arent not his own , the fact you mentioned a business made it more dubious. Its not really a kurdish thing , its a bad oriental male mentality , not saying they are good guys out there but most of the time they are not. He is just preying on your insecurities , I have seen lots of guys like that sadly, and they have duped out a lot of white girls sadly , for lot of guys the rationale white /western girls are easy and when it comes time for commitment you find a "good" girl from back home , its a sick and stupid ideaology but lots of guys think this way, they are some good guys too but again I really think you should think this.
