Hello from the Netherlands

Before I start I want to apologize for my poor English, I am not a native English speaker.

Dear friends,

My name is Alind (they call it Alend in the Netherlands). I am 15 years old, born and raised in the Netherlands but both of my parents are from Southern-Kurdistan. I have a lot of interest in politics and I am quite nationalistic. I have been following this forum for a while and today I decided to register. My mother is does not really understand politics but my dad has been a proud member of the KDP. He was a peshmarga in Iraq till the end of the 80's. And later returned to work for the party, he was quite important party member in Shexan (a yezidi town near Duhok). My mom is a quite devout muslim, my dad was raised muslim but I think any ''real'' muslim would call him a disbeliever because he is really secular. I was raised Islamic too, but I consider me an atheist now. I have been reading a lot about the kurdish struggle and always end up in debates with Turkish people, which I admittedly kind of hate (If I am aloud to say that). I am also greatly against the PKK's so called ''peace-treaty'', which I believe is a really stupid move.

Kind regards,
Alend Merani

In the Netherlands we have levels in school.
From the ''highest'' to lowest'' its VWO-HAVO-VMBO
With VWO you can go straight to university after 6 years of studying.
With HAVO you go to college after 5 years and with VMBO you go to a place called MBO where you study proffesions like barber, carpenter, computer designer or other artistic work.
I did 3 years of VWO but its neccesary to study German and French, which I am pretty bad in.
So after 3 years of VWO I am now studying HAVO in the compartment of Culture and Society, which you can use too study stuff like politics, history etc.

I am terrible at languages and the only German I know comes from listening to German Rock music :D

Are you interested in politics? Or have you some other love?

At your age you should try to find something you are really interested in. If you find something you love doing then work becomes FUN :o)

Even after all these years I doubt whether very much of what really took place during WW2 is actually available to the general public :-o

Medieval times are much more fascinating - are you interested in the Medieval period of any specific country or worldwide ?
