I like your new name - have you adopted that name out of respect for the famous poet Şêrko Bêkes?

Newroz is a name that I have seen given to men and women. Nice name except when some Northern Kurdish tell it Nevroz, like Turks. OMG, in French it sounds 'névrose' (neurosis) :))

Rojava will be a star name for 2013 and 2014 I think also.

Thanks Anthea.
Sherko Bekes, sure why not. But to be honest, it's mostly after Saladins uncle Sherko.

That's what it cubes out in French, lol. No mater what bane you choose, it will sound like something funny in another language.

Newroz written that way is beautiful and could become a big hit even in the US. But it fits on a girl much better :)

Rojava will definitely be a star name.

Şêrko was a very famous and bright general. He served Nur al Din with his brother Ayyub (Salah ad Din's father) and brought his young nephew in Egypt for a campaign against Fatimid Caliphs. Salahaddin Yusuf told later that at this time he preferred to study and living a pious quiet life, but his uncle entered in his room and shout : 'Yusuf ! Pack your bags !" and then he followed his uncle.

In Cairo, Şêrko was victorious against Fatimids but died soon by an illness. Then young Ysuf became commander of Cairo in the name of Nur Al Din, Sultan of Damascus (A Turk).

The last Fatimid Caliph died soon also by illness and Salahaddin stayed the only master of Egypt. So Nur al Din worried about this new power and ordered him to come back to Damascus.

Salah ad Din 's troops were composed by Turks and Kurds. Kurds chose Salahaddin as master while Turks were faithful to Nur Al DIn. Then there was a starting conflict but suddenly Nur Al Din died and his only heir, Ismail, was a boy of 12.

So Salahaddin became the new Sultan of Egypt and starting a new Jihad against Crusaders Kingdom but also against Turksih power in Syria and Anatolia.

Şêrko had been described by William of Tyre who was archbishop of Tyre and a famous historian. He wrote that Şêrko was an ugly short and fat man, with a blind eye, but very skillful, clever, and a hard fighter. He defeated Jerusalem's army and king Amory and William explained it by Şêrko's qualities, saying that he was 'a most vigilant leader'. He was a very tricky and good strategic general, better than Saladin concerning military affairs.

Thanks Piling, that was very informative. But I didn't know he was short and ugly, can I change my name? Just kidding :))

Sherko deserves sine recognition for his achievements, RIP.
