But since those aren't my words - but the words of a person (girl) on vivaKurdistan - I suspect that they are Soranî... Maybe even Goranî...

Mlala= mindal(?)= child?
Kewa= where
Tak=with?
Sawakana=the dogs?
Benjam="My..."
Shetaka=something
Awna=these
Guwana=?

You pretty much got it right Diri. This is not Gorani. It's someone who just can't write well in Sorani =P She's probably trying to say Ew mendale kiye le tek segekane? And "guwana" - she probably means "ciwane". (She likes the picture with the kid and the dogs, and wants to know who the kid is

Yeah, we pronounce the g in seg. Se... is that just unique to the Urmiye area or does is that common in Northern Kurdistan too?
Posted: Sun Jan 15, 2006 8:11 amin Jazirah-Qamishlo-Bohtan, I believe that ppl say "se". In Western-Western Kurdistan (Efrîn) they say kuçek (from the Turkish köpek ?).
Seg is a common Iranian term in fact. Even in Northern India they tell it, for in Kipling's novel, Mowgli, they use the term against wild dogs, as an insult : "sag".
