we say xîyaban , or şeqam .
sharah is arabic, not kurdish, assimulated kurds say sharah.

dyaoko wrote:Rêke ? or Rêga ? (remember Bahman Ghobadi's movie, the girls name is Rega)
another word for Road is , "Jaaa" (yes Three A)

Diri we also say raqah, but that means path, not street or road.

Piling wrote:Xiyewan ? Nice word. I didn't know this term. Is it for a large street or indifferent ? For streets, I say kolan or kuçe (perhaps means narrow streets ?).
And I use to say rê or rêk for road.

Didn't I once tell you that Standard Kurmancî is based on Shikakî and Amedî?

Diri wrote:Rêke is what you have OUT of the city - and Xiyewan is what you have IN the city...

Cool... Do you use it in the same manner as we do?![]()
Yeah, Piling... You are right - I agree - Dialects can be very valuable... And they ARE - in Kurdish we have ten words for the SAME thing - while in many language they don't even have ONE native word for a thing sometimes...![]()
Kurdish is a rich language...
