Well-said kak Emanoelkurdistani :) :) :)

And now Here is another lesson

Hello everyone

In our lesson today , we are going to complete and talk about the rest of consonant letters in Kurdish language and vowels . for non-Kurd to memorize vocabularies in the examples.

( n o p q r s ş t u û v w x y z )

N : It’s pronounced as N of English .
Examples :
Nerm ---(Flexible ) .
Nav ----( Name ) .

O : vowel letter , we will talk about it later .

P : it’s pronounced as P of English .
Examples :
Parçe ---( rag ) .
Pêt ------(flames) .

Q : it’s pronounced through muscular soft palate at the rear of mouth . it’s pronounced when you stop letting the air , at your throat , to get out . a good example could be ( Qatar ) as pronounced in Arabic language .

Examples :
Qelew ---- ( Fat ) .
Qereçî ------ ( gypsies )

R : it’s pronounced as R of English .
Examples :
Rovî ------ ( Fox ) .
Reng -----( color ) .

S : It’s pronounced as S of English .
Examples :
Sed ----( hundred ) .
Sax ----( alive ) .

Ş : It’s pronounced as the combination ( S+H ) in English gives , like in the word ( sheep ) .
Examples :
Şûr ---( sword ) .
Şîn ---( blue ) .
Baş ---( good ) .

T : it’s pronounced as T of English .
Examples :
Tevger ----( activity –movements )
Tirs -------(fear ) .

u : vowel letter , we will talk about it later .

û : vowel letter , we will talk about it later .

V : it’s pronounced as V of English .
Examples :
Çav ----( eye ) .
Bav -----( father ) .

W : It’s has a special use in Kurdish language , we will talk about it later . ( used to separate vowel letters ) .

X : it’s not as X of English , it has no identical letter in English , English native speakers find difficulties when trying to pronounce this letter , it’s pronounced by breath friction , a sound made by forcing the breath through a narrow opening .
Examples :
Xanî ----( house ) .
Xak -----( land ) .. xaka me means ( our land ) .

Y : It has a special use in Kurdish language (used to separate vowel letters as the letter ( W ) does , but with some differences . we will talk about it later .

Z : It’s pronounced as Z of English .
Examples :
Zana ---( intellectual , scholar ) .

Zarok ---( children ) .

( a - ê - î - o - û )

8 vowels in Kurdish language are divided into

1- Long vowels .... a - ê - î - o - û - .
2- short vowels .... e - u - i .

Today we will only talk about the long vowels .

A : Simply it's pronounced as the ( a ) in Father ( fa'ather ) .

Examples :
Av ( Water )
Nan (bread )
ka ( give me )
kar ( job )
Avdar (March )

O : It's pronounced like O in the word ( More )

Examples :
Roj ( sun - day )
Kor ( blind )
Por ( hair )
Olvan (religionist )

ê : It's pronounced like A in these words ( rare , fare , dare ) .
(rare , fare , dare ) = (rêr , fêr , dêr )

Examples :
êvar ( evening )
Rê ( way )
Mêr ( husband )

û : It's pronounced like what both ( oo ) together in this word voiced ( Moon )

Moon = (Mûn )

Examples :
Rû ( face )
Mû ( hair )
Dûr ( far )
Pênûs ( pen )

î : Simply it's pronounced like what ( ee ) together in this word voiced ( see )
see = sî .

Examples :
în ( friday )
şîr ( milk )
Kî ( who )
Mînak ( example )

for more explanation I want you here to notice the difference between these vowels (û \ o ) in the following examples .

şûr / şor

şûr : means in English ( sword ) and pronounced like this English word ( sure ) .
şor : means in English ( salty ) and pronounced like this English word ( shore ) .

and to differentiate between these two vowels ( î-ê )

şîr / şêr

şîr : means in English ( Milk ) and pronounced like this English word ( sheer ) .
şêr : means in English ( Lion ) and pronounced like this English word ( Share ) .

I hope everything is clear .
