it looks sooooooooo damn fine!

Windows Vista Beta 2 is now available for IT professionals and developers with MSDN and TechNet subscriptions. In the coming weeks, Microsoft will start the Windows Vista Customer Preview Program (CPP) for developers and IT professionals who are not members of the subscription services.

The Windows Vista CPP will also be available to technology enthusiasts that want to install and test a copy of Windows Vista Beta 2.

Ease of use
When you start using Windows Vista, you will recognize familiar elements such as the Start menu, which is now faster, more streamlined, and more helpful than in previous versions of Windows. The Start menu features integrated desktop search through a new feature called Instant Search which can help you find and launch almost anything on your PC. Just type in a word, a name, or a phrase, and Instant Search can find the right file for you. But more than that, the new start menu makes it very easy for you to navigate across all of the installed applications on your PC. Eliminating the slow performing, cascading "All Programs" view, the new start menu can help you get something started more quickly than ever.

missIndependent>> Try checking Novell XGL desktop for Linux. It looks amazing. You should check it out. By the way SuSE 10.1 contains XGL with the rest of the packages. I think Vista and XGL are all about 3-dimensional effects. I've never seen Vista myself, but I've seen XGL. I really liked XGL, but I still think those effects places a heavy overhead on the overall performance of the machine.

MY ADVICE, DO NOT purchase Vista.

Vista slow downs your PC, some programs doesn't work, PC gaming is ridiculous, lots of bugs, the only good things is, that it look nice.

I'm at the moment stuck with Vista, since there aren't any XP drivers for my PC.

i'm not sure what pc u've got, but before installing vista, u may need to upgrade all ur drives as well as graphic card, sound card n so on.. otherwise it may not work or in ur case it will slow down ur system. or ur probably running out of space lol, cuz vista takes a huge amound of ur hard disk.

It's so funny reading this thread... You start out so positive and happy about Vista... And as I read on, you just became more and more pessimistic with Vista! Hahaha

This was funny
