The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

What do you mean with drum stuff? Is it like someone is playing with this drum from the minaret?

no not from the minaret .. i saw a show on t.v .. a guy was walkin around with a drum .. around the neighbourhood ...

BUT his drum wasn't as big as the ones they for weddings (doholu zerna) .. !!! that is too loud!! :!:

Davul in Turk!

And yes it is the same as in the wedding. Huge and horribly noisy. The worst is that they sing as well...and as they all want to be paid, there are several of them, like 2 or 3 by night...

opps, heehee, now that is annoying .. i dont like to be waken up by such a loud sound (eventhough my lil bro's voice is so loudddddd :evil: ) but haha they sing :P i hope they can sing :D

i was in istanbul this summer .. gosh, it has beautiful mosques .. i went to those sultan mosques/museum .. and haja sofia .. and by the hotel i stayed at there was a mosque ..
and i got to istanbul at night .. i was sleeping and my window was open .. all of a suddent the morning adan woke me up .. it was so beautiful .. i never experienced it before .. i loved it =)

As Tomjez said this drum isnt even something "religious", why should god protect him? That man would really pis me off :twisted:
Same thing with a soccer match, when a team wins some supporters are thanking god.. i doubt it that god is taking side in a soccer match.
