UPK-Gorran want an independant Kurdistan with anyone BUT Barzani as president ; in the same time, they have no serious leader to propose instead. So they ask a parliamentary regime, that would mean an independant Kurdistan without president.

Yekgirtu-Komala, and other islamists want an independant Kurdistan but ruled by Sharia. In the same time, they are so poorly unified each others that both parties would prefer a KDP-UPK-Gorran president than one from their own islamist rivals, so they want a Kafiristan and stayed in divine opposition.

PKK wants what wants Öcalan (at least officially) and no one (even God) is able to say what Öcalan wants really except that he is absolutely against an independant Kurdistan whoever the leader could be (because he is not in the race).

KDP-Iran wants what PJAK does not want and PJAK wait for PKK and Iran to claim what they are supposed to want.

PYD wants 1/3 what PKK wants (theorically) and 1/3 what Baath exiges and 1/3 what KDP-Syria does not want.

So they fight all each others, but there are improvements if we compare with 90s, when KDP/Turkey fought with PUK/PKK/Iran : until now, it is a war of words and Kurdish media bashing has replaced guns and bullets.

Thank you for that Piling - well put and factual :ymapplause:

As for me:

I see a vast difference between picking up a gun and shooting an armed force intent on killing my family - and using suicide bombing as a revenge attack

Suicide bombing are the main cause of death to innocent women and children in Iraq - and bombings themselves are the main cause of death to innocent women and children in Syria

A brave man will stand face to face with his enemy and - if necessary die fighting to protect others :D

I am by no means a spokesperson for all the political parties your post was about, but there seems to be lots of generalization in there. PKK was the first to appeal for an independant state for us Kurds, but the reality struck them pretty hard so now they are asking for basic human rights. PDKI was one of the first, if not the first, to found a real Kurdish republic - can not be compared to the petty politics of PJAK. But PDKI is now just a shadow of its former glory. Pretty accurate regarding the Islamic parties though, kudos. KDP is the last political party that wants any independance, by the way. Goran is a mess, like a chicken with no head still trying catch its last breath - every day is a miracle it still exists. PUK is like a split banana milkshake. We could carry on with these generalizations for days, but that will in no way serve our nation.

Regarding that last post, I think you are mistaking bravery with stupidity. In this day and age were you can be killed from 30.000f, or half a world away. I am not defending suicide bombings, but atleast refrain from painting other Kurds in the color black.

PKK was NOT the first to appeal for an independent state for Kurds

Sadly at the hight of PKK support - when it had the opportunity to achieve really great things with a vast worldwide network of supporters - before it became a banned organisation - instead of teaching Kurds about their history and culture the PKK taught their supporters about Marxism :(

What we need now is a way forward - a way to regain the respect Kurds gained while protecting the people of Kobane

Japaneses, as many Far Eastern people with Buddhist or Shintoist background takes death in an easier way : just a closed chapter, and they could hope to reborn in a better skin (the worst is to reborn as an animal and the best is to not reborn).

Of course suicide are committed often by desperate people but I notice that the leaders who send 'martyrs to death' generally live a long life and die in their own bed, as Khomeiny, many Palestinian leaders, and now Jihadists. Öcalan himself did not behave as a 'ready to die' when he was caught.

After many wars, Generals die often in their own bed while so many soldiers fell in the battlefield, but in terrorist strategy that's the most common law. Japanese emperor himself did not make sepukku when he surrendered to Americans : that was only good for kamikaze and samurai. :-D

True most leaders are happy to see others give their lives for 'the cause' but would not do so themselves X(

It seems the indepth knowledge is lacking. I can pick your post in detail, but not getting any propitious answer in return makes me not to.

Also, londoner, are you the guy from aliraqi.org? The one with ideas you wanted to patent?

According to the HDP Demirtaş told the FT: “Two police officers, sleeping, who were sleeping in the night were massacred. That was a dirty act which smelled of provocation and the assassination had probably been contracted to figures close to the PKK,..."

Committing suicide in order to assassinate people while they sleep is despicable X(

It got removed a little while ago. All Kurds left, became a ghost town with only sport-topics these last years. Excellent example of how neglect of good members in favor of trolls can destroy something great. I had the same nick there also.

I wonder how it is possible to commit suicide while assassinating? I am pretty sure the perpetrator just killed them and left.

Hopefully you will contribute much more :D

You are probably unaware of what happened on this site

Someone tried to take it over and caused a lot of problems for the site owner

Some people left because they actually received abusive threats by that person and his close friends

Others were banned because of the threats they were sending as PMs

We need good information and positive ideas and feedback

You all seem to be level-headed, and from the posts I have seen to far you all are people to be respected. I will do what I can to contribute to this site. I remember being put off by "northerniraq" logo or name of this site years ago, if I am not mistaken.

northerniraq is ironically used as a joke in a time when USA obstinately refused to call it Kurdistan, in 2004-2005. Here is the main page :

http://rojbash.org/

but of course it could seem Baathist for someone who just read the title.

(by the way no Baathist ever came here, snob people [-( ).

Kurdish rebels attack police, military in Turkey, policeman killed
By Seyhmus Cakan

Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants attacked a military outpost and a police car in southeast Turkey overnight, killing a policeman, officials and security sources said on Sunday, in further violence jeopardising a fragile peace process.

The Turkish military launched an air campaign against PKK camps in northern Iraq on July 24 after a resurgence of militant attacks. State-run Anadolu news agency said more than 260 militants had been killed, including senior PKK figures, and more than 400 wounded by Aug. 1.

It gave no source for the figures. The fighting threatens tenuous peacemaking efforts, with the PKK having declared last month that it was stepping up attacks and accusing Turkey of violating a 2013 ceasefire.

Late on Saturday, PKK gunmen fired on a police car in the town of Midyat in Mardin province, killing one officer and wounding another, the governor's office said in a statement.

PKK fighters also launched rockets at a military outpost in the Bulanik district of Mus province, triggering a brief gunfight, security sources said. No casualties were reported.

A day earlier, six people were killed in clashes between security forces and militants in the mainly Kurdish southeast of the NATO member country.

Alarmed at the violence, Turkey's pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) leader urged the PKK on Saturday to "remove its finger from the trigger" and said the government should launch talks to restore calm.

The HDP has played an important role in the peace process with regular visits to PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan in his jail on Imrali island south of Istanbul. Those visits were halted before the June parliamentary election and the government has indicated they will not be permitted to resume.

The HDP called in a statement on Sunday for an end to military operations and restoration of the truce, saying that reviving peacemaking hinged on bolstering Ocalan's ability to negotiate.

"If the process is to continue, it is necessary to create the conditions for Mr Ocalan to conduct negotiating efforts on his own initiative, in a time frame set by him, with delegations from all sections (of society) proposed by him," it said.

Anadolu said 24 security force members had been killed in attacks in the last month, and 12 PKK rebels killed in clashes.

As well as PKK targets, Turkish jets have hit Islamic State insurgent positions in neighbouring Syria. Ankara has also allowed the U.S.-led coalition trying to roll back Islamic State territorial gains to use its air bases.

The PKK, designated a terrorist group by Ankara, the United States and European Union, launched its insurgency in 1984. More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict.
