Unexploded Ordnance Kills a Child Near Erbil
ERBIL — An unexploded bomb from decades ago blew up near Makhmour district in Kurdistan Region, killing one and injuring a few others.
On Saturday, March 12, a spokesperson for the Erbil Police confirmed to BasNews that a 15-year-old child was killed by an unexploded ordnance left form the Ba’ath regimes era around Makhmour district in south-west of Erbil.
He revealed that the child was from a herder Arab family from which three other members were injured.
BasNews has learned that one injured is in critical condition. They are hospitalised in Erbil for medical treatments.
Unexploded bombs, land mines and other ordnances, left from decades-long military conflicts between Iraqi Kurds and successive regimes in Baghdad are threatening the life of thousands in the Kurdistan Region.
