Islamic Party Attacked, Four dead

PostAuthor: heval » Wed Dec 07, 2005 3:43 am

This past couple months has been a bad couple months... Why do they do this? What is this? Kurdistani fascists?

Kurdish Islamist Party Says Attacked, Four Dead

DOHUK, (Southern Kurdistan), Dec 6 (Reuters) - Four people were killed in northern Iraq on Tuesday when members of a Kurdish Islamic party that is challenging the dominant Kurdish bloc in next week's Iraqi elections were attacked by mobs, party officials said.

One senior official of the Kurdistan Islamic Union was among those killed when angry youths threw stones and set fire to party buildings in six towns. Kurdish regional president Masoud Barzani appeared on television and condemned the violence.

The party officials said 10 people were also wounded in the attacks.

Youths stood on the roof of a building in Dohuk, capital of one of three of Iraq's 18 provinces controlled by Kurds, holding up Kurdish regional flags as a car burned in the street below.

Attacks also took place in Arbil, the Kurdistan capital, and Zakho near the Turkish border, as well as three other towns.

The main Kurdish bloc -- Barzani's Kurdistan Democractic Party (KDP) and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) -- is seen as a leading contender in Dec. 15 elections for postwar Iraq's first full-term parliament.

Although the KDP and PUK fought a civil war in the 1990s, the they have set aside rivalries, hoping to gain as much power as possible in Iraqi national politics through elections that have followed Saddam Hussein's overthrow in 2003.

I wouldn't be too fast in shouting "hey stop"... After all... It was the PUBLIC and PEOPLE of Kurdistan that made the attack - it wasn't state officials...

But think about it:

The party isnt't a "Kurdish Islamist party"----> It is SIMPLY: Islamist Party - with support from Iran or some other shitty country who wants to divide us again...

The party doesn't say "Kurdistan" - it says "Umma" - ring any bells? Makes me PUKE just thinking about those shitty people who still want to divide Kurds because of religion...

Of course, but even if they are not sympathic guys, the KRG should protect them... At the contrary, everybody would reproached it to be not "democratic".

Question, may be true, NO political parties standing behind this, but the question is, when was the last time the public kurdish people(e.g. in dohuk) had the guts to do something like this, or even a rally?....Don't you think some political parties our standing behind this?...I think this a very obvious a common sense....... Plus "Kurdish Islamist party" are kurds like you, me and rest of the kurds....They are participating in this election just like any other 211 delegates.....
Reuters, most trusted news, mentioned students started the march and then shooting gun fire (Students carrying guns???? woww).....I have also heard that the police started supporting what so called our public kurdish people,,,,
This tragic event is very ifffffffffffffffyyyyyyy......
One more thing to add, It happend in six cities at the same time or at least same day......It got to be well organized ...............

Kak Diri - A member of the Kurdistan Islamic Union was killed. Of course Kurdistan is in their name.

I am not defending any parties here. However, no people deserve to be beaten or killed because they are the member of a particular party. Whether or not the KDP was involved in this incident is one question, however, they can prove their innocence by fulfilling their responsibility of putting those who committed these acts in jail. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior. These members of the youth ought to be ashamed of themselves for committing these criminal acts.
