Surely Iraqi forums could inform you better than a Kurdish one ? There are some Mosuli boggers on Iraqi Blog Count, etc.

Well - this is a Kurdish forum... Not Arabic... So I am sorry - but few, if any at all, can help you out here... :)

But I am curious ----> Do you consider yourself Arab, Iraqi or Kurdistanî?

Yes, they do, the accent is different and the pronunciation of some letters is different. The words are sometimes different too, like in one dialect, a chair is said kursie, and in another it is, chursie. The beginning letter changes completely, and it depends which region the dialect is from. The difference could be alot, or it could be just a little. for example, a man living in morroco will have a hard time understanding someone from iraq, because the two regions are so far apart that there is a bigger difference in the dialect.

I don’t know what you really want to hear. Mosul was and is and a Kurdish city. But historically it’s Assyrian city and Assyrian region. According me Assyrians must have their autonomy their, because it’s really their. But everything above Mosul is Kurdish. Just above Mosul are Yezidi Kurdish holy places and those places are really Kurdish. And nobody will ever steal those places from Kurds.

Mosul was for thousand years a mixed city : Arab, Kurds, Syriac, muslims, christians, Jews, etc.

Just ask your family if they are Arabs, and muslims, and sunnis or not. Then you'll have a good appreciation of your background.

I am not a specialist of Arab language, but I think that Iraqi is not far from classic Arabic, like in Syria or Lebanon or Jordiania. Egypt has its own way of speaking. Concerning Nothern Africa, it is quite a diffenrent language, they don't understand each others.

But I repeat that Iraqi Arab forum could help you more.

And in fact can you speak Arab or not at all ?
