This was about Assyrians. But since real assyrians don't exist. It doesn't matter.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

In the last 150 years, small armed Assyrian groups and small Assyrian British Levies, made up of 100 or so Assyrian men, managed, several times, to defeat Kurds 5 times their size. This is documented by British historians, not Assyrian ones. Speak all you like. Assyrians, British, Turks, Arabs - we all know what Kurds are worth.

"Kurdistan" will live - as long as American never leaves and stops needing the Kurds.

To correct a previous mistake: The term "Assyrian", while not accepted by many (although not all) Chaldean Catholics in Iraq, only happens in English. In Assyrian, we all call ourselves the same thing: "Soorayeh". Chaldean Catholics have no interest in a country without Assyrians from the non-Catholic denomination. We all say, we are one.

Kurds are indigeneous, maybe, to Persia (azerbeijan, Iran, etc.) There is absolutely no (non-Kurdish promulgated) evidence to the contrary, and nowhere did they exist West of the Zagros.

It is rather cute to watch you guys try to change that though. Assyriologists and Historians are not Assyrian - they are of every background, and they dispute every claim Kurds make in Assyria or Arabia.

And you can say Assyrians don't "really exist" all you like. As long as we say who we are - we are who we are. Nothing can change a national conscience - not even Barzani. Try as he may. Every time Ashur TV is attacked, every time Aghajan is awarded another medal, every time Nechirvan has to make statements reinforcing that "The Iraqi Constitution gives us the right to autonomy", every time the KURDS go WAY AROUND the ADM to gain the Nineveh Plains - every time, we know Assyrians are a thorn in the side of Kurds. Especially since most of the villages now occupied by Kurds in Northern Iraq were 100% Assyrian not a decade or so ago.

Moral authority in international human rights cases are a golden ticket. And the US is listening.

You are not Assyrian, but Aramean. The Assyrian nation died out long time ago. Kurds, Arameans, etc.. all have Assyrian blood.

LOLOL.

Nice try. That's a small movement in Europe.

Efforts to change the Assyrian identity have been tried for 2000 years. Unsuccessful. We are still here.

I know it's hard, considering you are just now having to make up your history to pretend that the ancient "Kordi" referred to you people, but Assyrians have nothing to prove.

Open a book about Ancient Iraq, Ancient Middle East, take an Ancient History class: King Sargon and Assyrians are everwhere.

Kurds are nowhere.

Scholars and historians and archaeologists know exactly who Iraq and Southeast Turkey belongs to.

So everything you Kurds say about your "ancient" roots is basically:

"blah blah blah blah blah blah blah"......

From what I've read in history Assyrians were very ruthless and loved warfare - proudly displaying their warfare with the carvings of burning down an Elamite Ziggurat and taking off with the gold and jewelry.

But it is said that Baklava was made my Assyrians and I love Baklava, so thank you 8)
Look to your history and roots to find your true self.

I know you're not Assyrian, so you won't know this Vladimir, but we speak what scholars refer to as "Assyrian Aramaic" because much of our language is infused with Akkadian. Most Assyrians have Akkadian-English dictionaries (like me!!) and the words (especially verbs and nouns) are actually Akkadian.

So yes, we speak Assyrian. Aramaens, thankfully, gace us our wonderful alphabet, now used by Arabs and Jews.

:-)

My apologies for posting on this forum - it was out of disappointment as I read something Kurds were saying about Assyrians somewhere.

I'm too busy to bother. There's a nation to build, anti KDP protests to hold, articles to write, Assyrian non-profits to manage, letters to write.

Ciao.
