To the poster who said Mosul is not a Kurdish city:
For your information the city of Mosul since ancient times until a few decades ago has had a strong Kurdish majority. Saddam increased the prersence of arabs though it still has a significant Kurdish poulation.
Marco Polo about one millennia ago talked about ''Mosul and Kurdistan''.
preior to Marco Polo, at the time of Arab attack to the region it was Kurds who resisted and defended the city. Arabs fought Kurds not Arabs or others. prior to Arabs the city was again under Kurdish principalities.
Please next time you want to talk about history do some research. (or dont make propaganda for Arabs or their cousins).
Here I give you some academic links:
Britannica: under entry Mosul: The population has traditionally consistedmainly of Kurds, along with a large minority of Christian Arabs, but a resettlement plan instituted by the Ba'th Party government beginning in the 1970s increased the presence of Arabs in the city.
Britannica: under entry Kurdistan: Its chief towns are Diyarbakir, Bitlis, and Van in Turkey, Mosul and Karkuk in Iraq, and Kermanshah in Iran.
Encyclopedia of Orient: under entry Kurdistan: The main cities are in Turkey; Diyarbakir, Van and Bitlis; in Iraq: Mosul, Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah, in Iran: Bukhtaran and in Syria: Qamishli and Hassake.
Encyclopedia of orient under entry Mosul: The population of Mosul is principally Kurdish, but with a large minority of Arab-speaking Christian Assyrians, and a smaller minority of Turkomans.
And thousand others...
Thank you.
