The Eurovision Song Contest!

Did you watch the ESC this year??? Did you see Turkeys contribution??? It was SO loaded with Kurdish elements - The singer -Gülseren had clothing that could easily have been kurdish - I mean she had - "Levendî" and the colours were bright and the skirt and - well ALL of the outfit acctually! And then the music - the song - "Rimi Rimi Ley" a Kurdish galery song translated to Turkish and they put in a beat and TAAADA!!! You have a modern "Turkish song"!

I was however tremendiously satisfied with Greece winning! I am so happy for them - they used traditional Greek rhytms and melody - and the song is very catchy! "Your my number one!"

Did you listen to the Makedonian contribution? In the middle of the song he had a kurdish "bridge" with "Duhol û Zûrna!"...

No, I was watching Siwan Perwer and Adnan Karim.
But Turks always steal Kurdish things Newroz, music, clothes, children, women, land, resources, water, money...
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Norway is a beautiful country. But mostly I don't like the songs on Songfestival. Maybe they sound a little bit greek but it's nothing like traditional greek music...
Even Zorba the Greek is beter!!

Hey - NOW I get it... but NOW I have to disagree with something else... You only compare it to Greek because you haven't heard enough of Norwegian and Greek music... Their songfestival isn't "traditional" music... it is rather modern...

Their traditional music is called "Stèv"... And this is more like à cappella... And then they have the "hardanger" violin... which has 8 strings instead of the normal 4... And they have traditional dance which resmebles Kurdish dance

Yes, it has some resemblances. Still I am much better in Greek, because they use their feet more.
Nothing wrong with modern music though, but I don't hear a lot Greek music in Greece they all go to disco's and listen to crap dance music.
But o well.. no problem.

And remember Athena, the Turkish Greeks  ??

Well Surely we MUST be... Just like Israel - If Kurdistan EVER is Independent it will be because the west wanted it to... AND SO THEY WOULD LIKE US TO BE PART OF THEIR Relations...
