diffcult question :-) but i think if a western woman choses to live in southern kurdistan, silêmanî is the best place.

Trust me it is more westernised than you think.
Things like satellite have enabled people to see what western culture is like and most of the people there have adopted it. I think you will settle in there very well.
People of Kurdistan are developing and grasping knew cultures, ideas and liberalism. I really wouldnt worry if i was you.

They are probable more modern then your husband :P .
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Hi Dara....
Excuse me!.....but first we have to define what u mean with freedom and liberty in order not to get confused....First of all, westernization is not the only criteria to be civilized...because Islam brought us civilization...so,it's a matter of customs and traditions, and it do differ from a place to other......
So,dear Dara..I just want you to read about freedom in Islam and to try to implement the islamic concept of freedom in your life...
So,I wish u a good day....(try to keep urself worm,I'm sure it's really cold out there  ...
have a nice time.......

people who don't know suleymania think that it's heaven.

PostAuthor: xape gyan » Mon Feb 12, 2007 3:10 am

people from zaxo duhok hewler think that silêmanî is heaven because they don't have their so called freedom in their own towns, they think they can get it in silêmanî but the truth is otherwise...

its true that silêmanî is "open minded" then the other places but only the real silêmanîs r open minded in everything and now a days u dont get to c real silêmanîs 'cause they all left..most of the people who stays/lives in silêmanî they r all from the villages around it

and i'm born there i'm a real silêmanî
my granddad helped building it you can find his name in a book published in slemani with the names of the families/man's who helped building silêmanî
so for those who feel attackted..relax..chill out..i know what i'm talking about.. :)

back then in the 60's and 70's even the 80's slemani was heaven
but now it looks more like a hell

and a western woman..who can accept not to go out any time she wants..who can accept to live for the people around her..by that i mean the neighbours..who will for sure act as they r the boss over u..
and who can accept the dirty things that the village people say about u when u walk by
who can accept their mentalllity..
then sure..u can live there
dont forget the water and the electr.

keçi bash..people who build the city can't live there anymore..now you wanna go back and try to live there?

if u will and you really can live there.. then u deserve a sculpture or a big portret of youu next to that old man i forgot his name he's a very important person who has a big portret in silêmanî in the center..
anyhow

silêmanî is beautifull and will always be in my heart..but there is no life anymore
carpe diem
