I took a class on Farsi because I could not speak, read, or write. I should mention that there are 4 extra letters found in Farsi and Dari that are not in Arabic.
There are Arabic words in Farsi but at the same time Dari was not effected as much which is why there are words used in Dari that are not used very often in Farsi. For example, in Dari they say, "name shuma chist?" what is your name whereas in Farsi you say,"Esme shoma chi ast?" Technically both are correct.
Plus lets not forget that the Quran was in Arabic, not in Kurdish, Farsi, or any other language. As a result, Arabic was the official language of for religion, government, and medicine which permanently changed things.
It wasn't until the Turks came that Farsi was acknowledged. And Turks were the biggest advocates of Farsi which is why Turks call Mowlana(Rumi) a Turk yet Mowlana argues that you know Arabic and Farsi better than your own language. Oh and Arabs call Khayyam an Arab scientist yet he was very critical of Arabs.
