You are very hopeful for what the Iraqi Kurdish leaders will do for you - an Iranian Kurd. Do you know that Hoshyar Zebari our foreign minister has promised Turkey he will eradicate what is left of the PKK in North Iraq. Barzani and Talabani both time and time again stress on Iraq's unity in their speeches. What makes you so sure that Iraq's Kurd will fight your war for you ? What makes you sure they will declare an official referendum ? Do you honestly believe a Shia strong government that is in Iraq now will support funding to separatists in their strong ally Shia Iran ? I'm just talking logic here. You really should start working from within and stop pinning up your hopes on Iraqi Kurdish leaders only. Or else hope for an American liberation campaign of Syria, Turkey and Iran and that is also next to impossible.

Diri - to argue for your right to self-determination is great by me and I respect u for that but no need to curse at a whole nation in the process. I don't think it's our fault how the Brits cheated u off a country of your own. By the way I am Muslim first, Iraqi second and Arab at the very very last so I am not swayed by such remarks.

Ok fine but next time be more precise and direct your slurs at governments, politicians etc. Yalla, no problems.

Iragîdon - We are friends... I LIKE Arabs like YOU - Because you are tolerant and because you are open minded and understanding... Alas that is not the majority of Arabs... But thank you for even supporting Kurds!

Arabs like YOU I can call my brother with pride ;)

Unfortunately I have to agree with the above somewhat. The only way for the Kurds is to strongly assert themselves and never go back on their word. This is the only slap in the face to those who choose to ignore the Kurdish Issue to wake them up from their denial. The Kurds shouldn't succumb to attempts at assimilation i.e retain their kurdish identity, culture, language. Because once all the latter is lost, it's over. I believe Federalism in Iraq for the Kurds is a HUGE step that will benefit the entire country. I had an argument with a Syrian co-worker of mine the other day who wanted to convince me that Kurds were in essence Arabs and the two are moreorless the same thing  . He expressed disgust at the celebrations happening over Barzani's presidency and called us Iraqis - "weak" people who deserved someone like Saddam to rule us with an iron fist. Hard to fathom there is so much ignorance in the Arab World. Then again, maybe this is the reason we lag behind in the 3rd world. Wish you all the best my friend - and brother. And hope I wasn't too intrusive with my opinions as an outsider to the Kurdish cause.

I have to agree the Arab world is saddly in a bit of an ideological malasis at the momenet...
Most Arabic media attacks the Kurds for their alliance with the US... and accuse the Kurds of working with ISrael...
Yet they seem to believe every lie that comes of Turkey regarding the Kurds.... right down to the rediculous accusation that PKK Kurds are settling in Kirkuk...
This is despite the fact that Turkey is allied with Israel and the US....
These kind of attidues however are not found amongst the original Baghdadis or former Communists.....
