Indeed, the Arabs mostly joined during Saddams era and still are in Kurdistan. The Turkmen are from Hawler and Kirkuk area, and contrary to what people think not all Turkmen are anti-Kurdish. And even with the Kurdish population a big chunk of them are not Muslim, then it's broken into shia and sunni Muslims. The Peshmerga is very diverse.

We can't discriminate against other nationalists and since the Peshmerga is voluntary and not compulsory one can assume that they are also patriotic and care for Kurdistan.

But the number of Christians is quite high. I know there are lots of Christians in Kurdistan, but isn't 20% Christian peshmerga out of 250,000 peshmerga not a high estimate? :p
