Yesterday After the 4th brigade of the Iraqi army tried passing through Nafet Khana , they were confronted by Peshemrga , they were stopped from proceeding. Peshemrga under secretary says "it was nothing but a misunderstanding".

The Iraqi army 4th brigade, yesterday tried passing through the trigger line it has been drawn between KRG and Iraq , but Peshemrga forces that are deployed in the region confronted them and stopped their progress , the force was then forced to return to their original place.

Jabar Yawar, speaker of Peshmegra ministry told (Rudaw): "there was no major issue in the area, we have 5 bases in that area but an Iraqi army tried trespassing and settling in the area , but the 3rd Peshmerga brigade confronted them and forced them to withdraw back after confrontation and negotiations.

"we got confirmations that the Iraqi army 4th brigade was attempting to settle in the border areas with Iran, but after the confrontation and negotiation the Iraqi army withdrew to their original place" Yawar said.

An officer from the 3rd Peshmerga brigade told (Rudaw) that yesterday , an Iraqi army force tried trespassing through Nafet Khana but as soon as our forces got aware of the situation we confronted them , unarmed and arrested some of them, but after a brief negotiation between the high officials of the 2 sides , they were released and their weapons were returned to them then the Iraqi force withdrew to their original posts".

Khanaqin district lies in Diyala province , the majority of its residents are kurds with minor Arabs and turkmen , the population of the district amounts to 160,000 and its considered a "dispute" town between Erbil and Baghdad.

In 2006 the provincial council of the district with total vote urged annexation to KRG , and in 2011 Al-Maliki's Kurdish flag dilemma , the residents of Khanaqin took to the streets waving kurdish flags and urging the implementation of article 140.

Guys, just look at the Peshmerga army. Seriously, look how nice they are dressed, how peaceful they are and the way they are organised. This is all with very basic weapons and still a very strong army.
