By the way, did anyone see malikis interview today..

He said the federal government has no intent of attacking the kurds with war planes..

yeh right! May be not direct attack but means of military superiority of threat to claim disputed territory and possibly annexing our self ruled region!

maliki is a joke and jerk off, he is a trouble maker and has to be pissed off , or a war is actually possible to remove his head , he creates tensions with everyone and has become a barking dog of iran , he needs to be dealt with maybe the we should hire in an assassin and take good care of his sorry ass , since his forces cant even control his capital .

that picture of the m198s is old and is from kirkush army training camp. it is not from hawija.

the army rotating brigades for training or relieving existing units is not news. no need for the sensationalism. such unit deployments happen constantly all over iraq.

What ever we have is weak in quality and ineffective against the Iraqi army, especially in disputed territories (flat terrains). We are most effective in mountainous plains. Our forces are adapted to fighting in such environments, at least for the time being until the Iraqi army receives the F16's. It will make it much easier for them to strike our positions, in the case of a war...which I doubt.

I don't share the belief that Iraq would attack us, I just don't think it's possible for them. If Saddam couldn't get rid of us, a weak politicion like maliki wouldn't even dream about it. There has been too much investment for the international community to allow us to be attack like the 80's.

However, this shouldn't stop us from arming the Peshmarga's. We really don;t need jets at this moment and the money could be used to improve and build facilities. Were not trying to attack or invade anyone, so having better deffensive weapons is needed more than attacking ones.

Jets can be used for defensive purposes. If aircrafts are attacking, these could be used to shoot them dawn. They could bomb the shit out of advancing enemy troops or be used to attack the country of the invaders.

I think the United States / France / UK. They've some (I'm sure USA does) airforce bases in South-Kurdistan. It is still a no-fly zone for the Arabs, they've to control that ;).

the pic might be different but maliki has still brought them in kirkuk and now KBC has urged to remove and return these artilleries to where they came from .

Call to arm Kurdish Peshmarga forces similar to Iraqi army

PostAuthor: alan131210 » Tue May 08, 2012 11:43 pm

4/29/2012

BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Kurdish Alliance MP Mhama Khalil called the Iraqi government to arm the Kurdish Beishmarga forces similar to other army units, according to the constitution and law.

He pointed out to Aswat al-Iraq that "Beishmarga forces are integral part of the Iraqi army", calling "ministry of defense to arm them in accordance to the constitution and law".

He added that "it was supposed that 17% of the federal military budget should be spent on the Beishmarga forces, because they are guarding Iraqi borders".

Kurdish Beishmarga Command spokesman Jabbar Yawar called today the Iraqi government to allocate part of the new arms to Beishmrga forces.
These forces took part in the military operations against the previous regime in the so-called "Liberation of Iraq Operation".

They seized a number of jet fighters stationed in Kirkuk airbase, but the US forces refused to rehabilitate them.

Yawar stressed that the Kurds will not hand over their heavy arms unless they have a share in the modern ones.

so it is true after all , we do have some old jets , i wonder how many we have and how many they have restored by now , since one of them was viewed recently flying over Soran valley :D .

what i don't get though is why is it the US refused to restore them ! while they go and sell iraq f16s !! i thought they were our allies ! maybe time to turn to the chines and the Russians :!: .
