ERBIL, May 14 (AKnews) - Both of the Ministries of Interior in the Kurdistan Region have merged under plans announced today by Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government Imad Ahmed.

Imad Ahmed revealed the news at a press conference.

After the declaration of the seventh cabinet in the region, the government promised in its first meeting on April 8 to merge both the ministries of finance and interior within 45 days.

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Democratic Party have their own separate ministries and continue to operate the ministries of Peshmerga and finance separately.

This is the Erbil airport, right? (I'm not so sure, please correct me if it's not) If so, what are those helicopters in the background? Looks like the bells I posted not so long ago, the small picture looks like the picture of the Police helicopters, but the ones in the background are military green colored. Correct me if I'm wrong.

they are UH-1.
they are very cheap ,i wouldn`t be suprised if KRG maneged to get some.
they are not advanced,in vietnam-war hundreds were shoot down by small arms fire.
however,they are still used by alot of armies around the world. (like germany,turkey,greece,iraq etc)

Jabar Yawar: Iraq has intelligence agencies in Kurdistan

Secretary General of the Ministry of Peshmerga , Jabar Yawar held a press conference yesterday 14th of May.

"Since 2007 , the Iraqi defense department has received (36) trillion IQD while we have no received (36) dinars". he said.

He responded to Maliki's remarks and said "we believe the outstanding issues can be solved via dialogue and both sides should refrain from using force".

Statements released about Peshemrga

Regarding all the statements released about Peshemrga in the iraqi media he said "Peshemrga forces are an internal army, they protect the kurdish people and its land, and Kurdistan is part of iraq via a federalism system, hence we urge Baghdad to pay for our budget , not out of the 17% of KRG's yearly budget just like how they pay their defense force out of the national budget".

He added that according to article 121, we have the right to have our regional army with all kind of weaponries.

Peshemerga forces in Sliced off areas

Regarding the presence of Peshemrga in the sliced off areas, he said that "until article 140 is not implemented , we will remain to protect these areas which have majority kurds in them and are non separated pat of Kurdistan" he added "Kurdistan president and the iraqi prime minister have agreed on this issue in the past".

Buying Weapons for Peshemrga

Regarding buying weaponries and equipping the Peshemrga forces , Yawa said "every army needs weaponries , therefore we are buying weapons from outside just like the Iraqi army is doing so".

He added saying "its a right of the Peshmerga to possess the same weapons owned by the prioritization of Iraqi military, and this is what provides for the agreement signed with Nuri al-Maliki, the prime minister of Iraq and stressed the right of Ministry of Peshmerga authority to buy weapons with other countries with the knowledge of the central government" .

Yawar also said that "we have 3 brigades in the Iraqi army, and receive their budget from Baghdad, and there are Iraqi intelligence agencies in Kurdistan".

Prisons in Kurdistan

On the number of prisons in Kurdistan he said "there are some Iraqi prisons in Kurdistan which belongs to Iraq , but we look after and protect them".

At the end of his statement, Yawar said that it is likely the Iraqi PM has some advisers who seek causing more problems between the two sides . He also pointed out that the Iraqi army has not got a new legislation, chief of staff does not have new legislation and anti-terror does not exist in the interior ministry , which are all unconstitutional.

with regards to buying weapons. Peshmarga has the LEGAL AUTHORITY to buy weapons from anywhere they want. There's no excuse for not buying combat aircraft.

the guy standing there is the "Kurdish interior minster" not the iraqi one so why would we have iraqi choppers in Erbil airport with the presence of our minister of interior while our pilots are graduating !!!!!!! and those kurdish pilots are under direct KRG's control so iraq has no say in it even with the choppers they fly , and since when KRG trusts iraq with anything !!! so no they belong to KRG and there are more choppers we just have to wait and find out thru photos like these .

I told you before Alan... you can't trust anyone of them. He is here to talk nice about Kurds, and when he gets the attention of some Kurds here and he is flattered with the 'thanks' he receives for his posts, he starts to show his true nature... slow, sneaky... like a snake. First he is coming with a 'master plan' for our Peshmerga and now he start to deny Peshmerga having heavy armour/choppers etc.

FIRE BASE MANILA – KRG

A cool breeze blew through the valley below as Kurdish Regional Guard riflemen stalked down the hill, weapons at the ready. As they approached the objective, soldiers of 1st Regional Guard Brigade began firing on the unsuspecting enemy while advancing two by two, quickly overrunning their adversaries. “Okay, good job,” said Staff Sgt. Carlo Viqueira. “Let’s run the next squad through it.”

The Kurdish soldiers trekked back up the hill past the silhouette targets representing their defeated enemy, and watched as their comrades ran through the ambush scenario. Viqueira and other noncommissioned officers of Company B, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 1st Advise and Assist Task Force, 1st Infantry Division, are deployed to Kirkuk province, as a part of U.S. Division-North, to mentor the Kurdish soldiers as part of their advise, train and assist mission at Fire Base Manila, near the city of Chamchamal. “The squad and team leaders seem to have a good grasp on what they need to do,” Staff Sgt. Timothy Snyder said of the ambush drills conducted April 14. “Now we need to get the soldiers comfortable in their role as a part of a fire team and squad.”

The ambush training took place 11 days into a four-week training cycle, which includes combat drills, classroom training on map reading and land navigation, and basic medical training. “Most of what we teach them, American Soldiers learn in basic training,” Snyder said. Snyder said training the KRGB soldiers presents interesting challenges beyond just the language difference. “Their culture is a lot different from ours,” he explained. “In my class of 28 there are probably 11 who cannot read or write, but they respect us and are eager to learn what we have to teach them.”
