Northern Cyprus football team in Erbil for VIVA Cup

ERBIL, June 3 (AKnews) – Northern Cyprus football team has just arrived in Erbil, the capital of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region, as the non-FIFA affiliated teams compete for the Nelson Mandela Trophy staring June 4th through 9th in the fifth edition of the VIVA World Cup.

The VIVA World Cup is an international tournament held every two year where nations without states of their own will compete for the title.

For this year, each of the teams of the Iraqi Kurdistan, Western Sahara, Occitana, Zanzibar, Raetia, Tamil Elam, Darfur, Provence and Northern Cyprus participate in the championship.

The northern Cyprus team arrived in Erbil International Airport on Sunday. Hasan Sertoglu, head of the northern Cyprus delegation said in a press conference that they have come to “obtain a good result” in the tournament.

“Our team was on a good training camp in Istanbul” said Sertoglu sounding his team’s readiness for the tournament.

The 12 teams have been divided into three groups. The Kurdistan Region team alongside Western Shara and Occitana are within Group A.

Kurdistan Region have twice reached the finals, in 2009 and 2010, but failed to win any titles of the tournament.

VIVA World Cup was held annually until 2010 before the board decided it should be held every two years.

|| This is the Kurdistan national football team WIKI PEDIA page. As you can see 90% of the WIKI PEDIA pages about Kurdistan are written by turks, arabs and persians. Basically, i made some changes to the first two sentences which were inaccurate. Also you can notice that the title is still inaccurate which can only be changed by people who have an account and made more than 10 changes. So i recommend you to open an account so that we can edit our pages to eliminate false informations from these fascist people. I will soon change that title to Iraqi Kurdistan national football team

The main reason is because WIKI PEDIA pages now are the first source which people will look into to find information about anything from A to Z. So we need to be careful. ||

|| Did anyone watch Iraq vs Jordan match which was played today for World cup qualifiers, basically, the match ended 1-1. However, when i watched the match, i realised that Kurdistan at the moment is at the same level as both teams or even better. We can easily beat them as our players showed a very good performance in the Palastine cup. Therefore, jordan and iraq pay millions for coaches and players and they still show terrible performances! Also, when i saw the jordanian national stadium, i was surprised because even Erbil stadium is better than that stadium in terms of capacity and pitch quality. The arabs might make fun of us that we play in the VIVA WORLD CUP, but i think those arab teams should also play in this cup rather than playing in FIFA competitions because the way they play football is like watching spanish or english leagues in SLOW MOTION. I mean the way they play football is so terrible that you will have to pray the whole 90 minutes to score a goal or praying to not concede a goal. I swear 90% of arab footballers in their countries start playing football when they are 18 years old!

So, i think our football association should create a system to be used in football schools in all the cities for our youngsters (starting from 7 year old kids). This will enable to scout new talents and train them so that we can make a business for selling players to the outside world. We dont want to end up having footballers like them as the whole 22 arab countries have qualified less than 5 times to the world cup in their history . ||

To be honest I don't really know much about the qualities of the Kurdish players, so I can't judge, but 10-0 would be good for me against Northern Cyprus, seriously those Turks needs to get taught a lesson.
