Al Shorta, who have been playing their home matches in Jordan due to the social upheaval in Syria, are aiming to become the fifth Syrian side to reach the final but must first overcome an a strong Chonburi side that has yet to taste defeat in this year's AFC Cup.
The winner of this match will take on the side that emerges victorious from the other West versus ASEAN quarter-final clash that sees Malaysian champions Kelantan, take on Iraqis Arbil, who lost to Kuwait SC in the 2011 semi-finals.
