It might look better but it is't really a military unforim and it is isn't that good in stopping bullets from killing you unlike a military vest which would.

In the old days, Peshmergas are Freedomfighters, they fight a Guerrilla war to free Kurdistan and thats way they have traditional clothing, but now they are a official army, of course they need modern uniforms.

You can where a shalvar and a vest
But kurd have dressed like that for ever, kurdish warriors have always fourt like that, why change now?
There's some tradistions that don't really need to be changed, these new uniforms have no kurdishness to them(apart from the flag)

modern uniforms are not just for looks.
it is for several reason other armies also use modern uniforms (like camofluage And indentfication).
most other armies changed their tradional clothing 100 years ago, after ww1.
look at the french army now and before. (note how colourfull and "good looking" the old dresses are)
before:

now: (boring looking compared to the old ones, right? ;) )

but now camouflage and other factors are much more important. 200+ years ago a bullet could miss in a distance of 50m. now we got weapons that can hit targets 2km away (snipers. most assault rifles have a 400-700m effective range).

Heval rando you make a good point
Firstly the old french uniforms look terrible comperd to the new ones
As are as camo goes the pesmerge stood tall against a modorn army as gerrilas, there ubiforms weren't as much a proplem as say ammunation, communication or stuff like that, right?
I swear the isreals have a shalvari type trosers?

yes,we did very good against modern armies. but before we did use gurilla warfare, now we use conventional. easy indentification and such is needed for good and fast orginaizing. (a easy and cheap way to do that is using military uniforms)

haha. yeah,it looks kind of like (A thight) sherwal

but i to be honest think our leaders want our army to be like a modern western army (i think thats why they dont use "tight sherwal pants" with military dresses, like the israelis).

Heval rando your just proving my point
The easiest way to recocnise a kurdish soldier is by his shalvar, poshu and one eye brow
I don't see why the army got to change that?

I once watched a isreali army movie where I remember them wearing even baggier troser then that, anyway
