People in Kalar were protesting for the lack of food and water, and their demonstration was received with bullets... If protests turn into riots, then they should arrest the people. There is no excuse for killing them...
It says one person died here, but KurdTV reported two, I believe.
This is just shameful. The corruption in the Kurdistan Regional Government needs to end.

In the Kurdish town of Kalar, one protester was killed and 16 wounded in riots over a failure to supply electricity and water, Omar Aziz, a doctor at Kalar's general hospital told Rutgers news agency.
Reuters reported that several buildings were set on fire including a children's hospital, a radio station, the fire department and an education ministry building. Seventy protesters were detained.
The Suleimani-based Radio Nawa reported earlier on 7th of September that the Asaysh security forces in Kalar [which are part of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)’s forces] have fired on protesters. Radio Nawa’s reporter in Kalar said that “when the crowd approached the governor’s office, the [Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)] security forces fired on the crowds. A few people got injured and after that, the protestors attacked the governor’s office.Radio Nawa also reported that PUK's Asaysh forces have detained several journalists who were reporting on the protest.
Meanwhile PUK's satellite channel station reported that 31 people have been injured in the incident.
PUK’s Asaysh forces have fired on peaceful protests in the past. In August 2005, PUK forces fired on a peaceful protest held in Suleimani to support the Kurdish uprising in Eastern [Iranian] Kurdistan. In July, the Asaysh security forces of the Suleimani governor fired on a crowd of taxi drivers who were protesting against a decision to ban taxi cars which had non-Suleimani plate number.
